Producers Midstream has an excellent opportunity for an entry level Mechanic.

We have several openings for Mechanical Technician Apprentice in Hobbs, New Mexico. Experience with CC1305.
Under close supervision as an apprentice, to learn progressively skilled work in the compression field and control of natural gas facilities and do other related work. This position is designed for entrance and performance in an apprentice training program leading to journeyperson status as Mechanic Maintenance Technician.
Duties:
  • Assist senior mechanics and journeyperson technicians in the inspection, maintenance, and repair of compression equipment, including engines, compressors, and auxiliary systems.
  • Learn to perform preventative maintenance (PM) activities on compression equipment, including oil changes, filter replacements, lubrication, belt adjustments, packing service, and general mechanical upkeep.
  • Learn to identify, stage, and verify parts and materials required for preventative maintenance (PM) tasks using equipment manuals, PM checklists, and parts lists.
  • Assist with performing preventative maintenance on Caterpillar and Waukesha natural gas engines, including support systems such as cooling, lubrication, fuel, and ignition systems.
  • Assist with performing preventative maintenance on Ariel compressors, including frame lubrication, cylinder lubrication, packing inspection, valve maintenance, and general mechanical inspection.
  • Learn to inspect and maintain auxiliary equipment, including coolers, air compressors, vessels, pumps, valves, and piping systems.
  • Perform routine operational checks of equipment, gauges, and instruments to verify safe and efficient operation.
  • Assist with troubleshooting mechanical issues by identifying abnormal readings, vibrations, temperatures, sounds, and leaks.
  • Learn and follow all Company safety policies, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, and safe work procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment readings, and inspection results.
  • Participate in equipment startups, shutdowns, and operational checks under supervision.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards in compressor stations, shops, and work areas.
  • Attend required safety meetings and complete apprenticeship training and coursework as assigned.

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED);
  • Read and write English at a level required for successful job performance;
  • Learn rapidly; follow directions; acquire acceptable work habits such as punctuality, skill, neatness and dependability; work safely.
  • Willingness to work under close supervision; willingness to improve knowledge and efficiency by completing related courses as directed.

Physical Requirements:
  • Light to medium lifting is involved.
  • Ability to read and interpret operating manuals, process flow diagrams, and piping and instrumentation drawings.
  • On the spot decision making required in stressful situations.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.
  • The employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles; high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme heat; and other workplace hazards.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
