Job Description

Position Purpose: 

Veolia is a leading energy management and consulting firm that supports its customers in making their energy more sustainable, reliable, and cost effective through energy management, engineering, and energy efficiency solutions. Veolia’s clients include real estate developers & property managers, data centers, biotech firms, financial and educational institutions, municipalities, manufacturers and telecommunications companies. For these entities Veolia provides energy related due diligence, power planning, utility coordination, commissioning, and power/commodity analysis/purchasing support as well as infrastructure development services including central plant and combined heat and power plant design and installation. Veolia is actively seeking an energetic and self-motivated professional to join our mission critical team as a metering Field Technician.

The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a dynamic, entrepreneurial, fast paced environment and will have the following responsibilities and qualifications:

Primary Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Commissioning of electrical and mechanical metering equipment in a variety of environments, including:
    • Commercial Real Estate office buildings
    • Mission critical facilities (e.g. data centers)
    • Central boiler and chiller plants
    • Small power generation and cogeneration stations (up to 100 MW)
  • Identify, understand and assemble required documentation, drawings, and data from clients, vendors, and contractors.
  • Complete building-specific commissioning reports.
  • Submit progress reports and commissioning meeting notes to the project engineer facility manager.
  • Perform physical testing of electrical/mechanical equipment.
  • Perform basic network programming & troubleshooting.
  • Take in field measurement with the use of multi-meter test instrumentation.
  • Respond to customer inquiries in a manner that exceeds the customer’s expectations.
Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background: 

  • Associate degree in engineering / technology  with 1-3 years of experience in preferably electrical/mechanical/controls engineering, energy services, plant operations, or related field; OR
  • Minimum of 1-5 years of experience as service technician, controls installer, commissioning agent with experience in building controls, test and balance, design, construction and/or maintenance of building systems.
  • Building management and distributed control system experience a plus.
  • Metering experience a plus.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 

  • Knowledgeable with common electrical, mechanical, and controls-related building equipment, including:
    • Uninterruptible power supplies
    • Low and medium-voltage electrical switchgear
    • Automatic transfer switches
    • Static transfer switches
    • Power distribution units
    • Backup generators
    • Gas turbines
    • Reciprocating engines
    • Steam turbines
    • Selective catalytic reduction systems
    • Chillers (electric, absorption, and steam-driven mechanical)
    • Boilers (steam and hot water)
    • Heat recovery steam generators
    • Pumps
    • Air handling units
    • Computer room air conditioning units
    • Computer room air handlers
    • Cooling towers
    • Building management systems

Additional Information

Pay Range: $29.00 to $33.00 per hour.
