Field Service Technician - Heavy Maintenance

Location: Traveling - Home Base is Millsap, TX

Encore Oilfield Services, LLC is seeking a skilled AMS Heavy Field Service Technician to join our team in Millsap, Texas. This position is responsible for performing maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, installation, and commissioning of reciprocating natural gas compression equipment and related process equipment at customer locations.

The ideal candidate is customer-focused, mechanically inclined, and experienced in natural gas compression equipment. This is a travel-intensive position requiring a strong commitment to safety, quality, and exceptional customer service.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Perform on-site troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of reciprocating natural gas compression equipment and related process equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation issues and perform necessary repairs and adjustments.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance, inspections, cleaning, and replacement of worn components.
  • Install, configure, and commission new equipment at customer locations according to company and manufacturer specifications.
  • Test equipment following repairs or installations to verify proper operation and performance.
  • Maintain accurate service records, including equipment serviced, parts used, labor hours, and work performed.
  • Prepare timely and accurate service reports and communicate equipment status and recommendations to supervisors and customers.
  • Provide professional, customer-focused technical support while representing Encore Oilfield Services.
  • Follow all company Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies, OSHA regulations, and customer site requirements.
  • Stay current with industry technology, equipment, and service procedures through ongoing training.
  • Collaborate with team members and other departments to ensure efficient project completion.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
QualificationsRequired
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Minimum of three years of experience working with natural gas compression equipment.
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing reciprocating compressors, process equipment, or production equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical systems, including control panels, wiring, and related components.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to travel extensively and work overtime, evenings, weekends, and on-call schedules as needed.
  • Must provide personal hand tools up to 1¼"; specialty tools will be provided by the company.
Preferred
  • Gas or diesel engine training or compression school certification.
  • Experience with Caterpillar, Waukesha, Ariel, Ajax, or similar natural gas compression equipment.
  • Experience with field commissioning and startup of compression packages.
  • H2S, PEC SafeLand, or other industry safety certifications.
  • Experience working in oil & gas production or midstream operations.

Physical Requirements
  • Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work around heavy industrial equipment.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.

  • Climb ladders, work at elevated heights, and enter confined spaces when required.
  • Drive long distances and travel extensively to customer locations.
  • Must be able to safely perform all essential job functions while wearing required PPE.
Work Environment

This position is primarily field-based and requires frequent travel to customer locations throughout the region. Employees regularly work around natural gas compression equipment, rotating machinery, electrical systems, and industrial process equipment while maintaining compliance with company safety procedures and customer site requirements.

Additional Information
  • This is a travel-intensive field service position that may require overnight travel, overtime, evenings, weekends, and on-call work based on customer needs.
