Job Summary
We are seeking a Seamstress/Tailor to join our team! As a Seamstress/Tailor, you will be meeting with clients and assessing their garments, offering  solutions, and then performing the necessary cutting, pinning, and sewing to create their desired product. You will also maintain a proper inventory of supplies, ensure all equipment is maintained and cleaned. The ideal candidate has experience sewing, is familiar with the basics of tailoring, and has strong customer service skills. 

Responsibilities 

  • Must be able to do alterations, sew hems, fix tears, mend zippers and apply buttons
  • Perform basic alterations on garments including, but not limited to, sleeves, backs, sides, collars and bodices, inserting shoulder pads, altering waists, taking out hems to lengthen, shortening lengths, and adding cuffs
  • Do minor repairs to garments by replacing buttons, mending seams, and replacing hem•Maintain a professional attitude with sincerity and enthusiasm reflecting commitment to our customer-the most important person in our store
  • Cut, pin, and sew garments and fabrics to meet the needs of the customers
  • Answer questions on tailoring and services provided
  • Clean and maintain all equipment used
  • Give advice regarding the fit and care of garments to customers
  • Press and steam garments before returning to customer
  • Be knowledgeable of styles, fits, and fabrics to better serve the customer
  • Maintain records for alterations department
  • Carry out the more complex customer fittings as needed
