OBJECTIVE
The responsibility of the Receiving Laborer is to support the Receiving Manager in executing all aspects of the receiving process. Support the movement and validation process for all incoming inventory, reviewing associated order documents to ensure the accurate quantity, quality and coding of items, correctly splitting items based on order requests and maintaining a well-organized receiving area. Communication with the Receiving Manager to highlight any process issues, item damage or order discrepancies is required.

  • Support the Receiving Manager in the unloading of trucks and the movement of inventory to the proper receiving areas
  • Utilize order spreadsheets and documents to check and validate orders for correct quantities, quality and coding
  • Ensure all products with incorrect or missing codes are properly stored and corrected before being sent to floor displays or department associates
  • Identify, document and communicate any order discrepancies, issues or damages with the Receiving Manager in an accurate and timely manner
  • Assist in the maintenance and organization of both the receiving dock and storage areas, correctly labeling and coding inventory in accordance with department procedures
  • Support the Receiving Manager in the accurate and timely completion of inventory transfers, splitting inventory in accordance with order requests
  • Develop a working knowledge of all receiving policies and procedures, correctly checking and signing all documents as needed
  • Operate forklifts and machinery as needed to support the movement of inventory across the property
  • Communicate with store management to complete all other tasks as assigned

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Experience working in a garden shop or retail store environment or personal experience in a horticulture setting. Working knowledge of spreadsheet applications, Microsoft Excel preferred or a POS system, Counterpoint preferred. Forklift certification preferred, not required. High School Diploma or GED preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in an active retail store environment. This job may be either indoors or outdoors or both.
