Job description

Garden Shop Assistant              

Seasonal Hourly – Estimated pay range $17-$17.50 depending on qualifications and experience

Must be at least 18 years and older

Position Description:

The Garden Shop Assistant will have a passion for plants and gardening, excellent customer service skills, and a strong work ethic.

Your day-to-day:

  • Greet customers and assist them with their inquiries and purchases
  • Provide advice on plants, gardening tools, and landscaping materials
  • Maintain a clean and organized environment
  • Unpack and stock merchandise on shelves and displays
  • Willing to learn the seasonality of Garden Shop products, including Spring, Fall, and Christmas products.
  • Ensure displays are full and merchandised, with appropriate signage
  • Provides quality customer service, including interacting with customers, answering customer inquiries, and effectively handling customer complaints
  • Other projects, as needed

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of plants is a plus but not required
  • Safely operate a forklift and all other equipment used in the day-to-day operation of the garden shop
  • Demonstrate safe usage of box cutters, skid sheers, and other hand tools
  • Demonstrate a vast knowledge of plants & garden equipment
  • Great customer service skills
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral
  • Good organizational skills
  • The ability to multi-task

Working Conditions:

  • The garden shop is a seasonal outdoor department and exposure to weather is possible, such as extreme heat or cold, rain or snow, etc.
