Customer Service Associate

Big Tool Box is a multifaceted neighborhood business serving the surrounding community for over 30 years. Our business includes; a Hardware Store (ACE), Garden Center, Small Engine Repair, Lawn Sprinkler and Rental businesses. We offer health insurance, 401K and paid vacation.

Shop Services - Customer Service Associate; a great position for a parent who wants to work while the kids are in school; Full time, flexible hours, weekends off.

General Summary: The customer service associate for the Small Engine Repair/Shop Services Department is responsible for checking customers in and out when dropping outdoor power equipment and screens for maintenance and repairs. This position includes sharpening mower blades, knives, pruning and other lawn and garden items.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Customer Service
    • Project a positive representation of the Big Tool Box.
    • Greet and engage with customers entering and throughout the department, thank customers by name, when possible.
    • Project a friendly, outgoing demeanor; working well with customers and associates.
    • Answer and monitor all calls and pages promptly, courteously and effectively.
    • Continually build product knowledge base and possess the ability to assist customers by answering questions to common problems related to lawn and garden equipment.
  • Shop Services Software & Register Operations
    • Follow all cash register transaction procedures.
    • Responsible for balancing of register drawer.
    • Enter and maintain essential information in the Shop Services software system.
  • Department Appearance and Upkeep
    • Ensure the department and related areas are clean and presentable to customers at all times.
    • Ensure department supplies and retail items are stocked at all times.

Other Essential Requirements:

  • Perform additional duties as required or assigned.

Education/Training: High School or GED equivalent. Experience: Previous retail, customer service or small engine experience preferred. Physical Demands: Standing, walking, lifting (up to 40lbs).

Wage: $14.00-$18.00
