Job description

A Gardener Caretaker's duties at LAWA could require extensive squatting and kneeling. Examples are as follows: Prunes/plants/transplants, cultivates, fertilizes, and treats soil, plants, trees and shrubs with chemicals to control and eradicate insect infestation, fungi, and other diseases. Operates riding mowers, spray truck and various small power equipment such as tillers, edgers, line trimmers, and chainsaws. Assists with construction/ repairs of sprinkler systems by performing semi-skilled work. Assists in propagation work by potting plants, making cuttings, and preparing soil. Assists in landscape projects such as the installation of decorative pavers and drought tolerant landscapes.
The selected candidate must obtain and maintain a LAWA Security badge with Customs, Driving, and Escort icons, possess and maintain a valid unrestricted California Class C driver's license, and be able to operate a City vehicle at all times during employment.
