Hardin Sanitation, a Waste Connections company, is looking for a safety-conscious Local CDL Garbage Truck Driver to join our team in Meridian, ID!

.

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 6:00am - Ending when the route is complete (generally 8-11 hour days)

  • Occasional Saturdays

As a driver you will be operating an Automated truck collecting solid waste and transporting it to appropriate disposal sites. This Position requires you to work independently, in addition Drivers are expected to deliver excellence in customer service at all times. You will be cross trained in Automated Side Load Garbage Trucks, Front Load Garbage Trucks, and Roll Off Trucks.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate an automated garbage truck on specified routes to collect solid waste
  • Read route sheets and service each customer identified or assigned by the dispatcher
  • Perform routine inspection and maintenance on vehicles (checking fluids, safety equipment, tires)
  • Perform physically demanding tasks, including loading/unloading and moving waste bins
  • Operate hydraulic hand controls to lift/load refuse, operate compactor, and dispose of collected material
  • Clean up accidental waste spills
  • Complete daily reports on pre and post trip inspections of equipment
  • Fuel and maintain the physical appearance of the vehicle
  • Monitor and assess service requirements for carts/containers
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures
  • Courteous interaction with customers and perform other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

  • Extensive physical activity, including heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling objects over 50 pounds
  • Ability to mount and dismount the truck multiple times daily
  • Exposure to physical risks such as moving mechanical parts, outside weather, wet/humid conditions, fumes, and vibration
  • Moderate noise level

Job Requirements:

  • Valid Class A or B CDL license with Air Brake Endorsement
  • Pass Criminal Background Check, Drug panel Screening, and Motor Vehicle Report
  • Perform routine inspection and maintenance on vehicles
  • Minimum 1 year of experience related to the specified duties and responsibilities
  • Working knowledge of D.O.T. laws
  • Ability to work a physically demanding job
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend reports to complete daily assignments in English
