RESEARCH INTERN
New York University Tandon School of Engineering
The Department of Computer Science at NYU Tandon School of Engineering is seeking to hire
a Research Intern to work with Prof. Emily Black.
New York University (NYU) is one of the top private universities in the United States, and the Tandon School of Engineering, located in Brooklyn, NY, is deeply committed to excellence in teaching and learning. The CSE department conducts ongoing research in a
wide range of areas related to computer science theory, cyber security, analysis, visualization
data, computer games, and internet & web research.
Responsibilities
Candidates will be responsible for analyzing data around the performance of pretrial risk assessment instruments. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated background in algorithmic fairness and data science as exemplified by a strong publication record. Previous experience working with real-world data (e.g. directly from a government agency, not publicly available online) is desirable.
Salary range
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the monthly base salary for this position is $4,000 for full time, depending on the candidate's experience and qualification.
Expected start date and period of employment
Expected start date is: June 18, 2026. This position is expected to be for 3 months.
Qualifications
Candidates should be pursuing an undergraduate or master-level degree in engineering or related field. Candidates will be required to present eligibility to work in the United States.
