Position Description
Seattle Information Technology is looking for Quality Assurance Test Analyst to work with the Business Solutions Division as part of the EPIC delivery team. The EPIC team supports the City's permitting application, a critical business application used by multiple departments to manage permitting, licensing, inspections and code compliance. This position requires the ability to work with different stakeholders from multiple business units to understand business goals and objectives, technology needs to enable technology decisions and guide the selection of specific technology solutions and their design in alignment with the customer's business goals.

Job Responsibilities
Seattle Information Technology is looking for a Quality Assurance Tester to work as part of the EPIC team. The team supports the City's critical business application used by multiple departments to manage permitting, licensing, inspections, and code compliance. This position is responsible for testing software solutions, both functionally and technically. This work is primarily associated with the permitting application and will also include work with other applications supported by the EPIC delivery team.
The Quality Assurance Tester will be responsible for:
  • Reviewing existing functional and technical specification documents and plan appropriate test strategies.
  • Participating in the creation of new functional and technical specification documents with an eye toward precision and testability.
  • Creating and executing test cases, both manual and automated.
  • Documenting and tracking defects.
  • Providing estimates of testing effort.
  • Providing status and progress reports.
  • Working with teammates to create test automation to measure system performance (including various load conditions).
  • Contributing to ongoing improvement of team QA processes, templates, and best practices.
  • Supporting department goals in promoting diversity and social justice.
  • This position requires occasional non-standard working hours.
  • Perform varied tasks as assigned commensurate with this classified position level.

Qualifications
NOTE: Equivalent combinations of education/experience/training will be considered for the required qualifications except where specifically noted.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer technology or equivalent field or experience.
  • In-depth experience as a quality assurance tester, or a combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the position duties.
  • Experience testing web-based applications.
  • Experience creating functional test cases to ensure specifications are fully met.
  • Experience developing and executing automated tests.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining appropriate communication with supervisor about progress and issues.
  • General knowledge of database structures and tools (such as SQL, Oracle, MS Access, etc.), including the ability to execute queries.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural workplace with a diverse customer base.

Telework Expectations
This position offers flexibility of a hybrid work schedule.
