Position Summary:
Sea Colony is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Pickleball Professional to join our racquets team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a world class racquet sports program, work with a supportive leadership team, and help shape one of the fastest-growing sports in the country. You will deliver the ultimate pickleball experience by providing the highest quality instruction and customer service. This candidate will teach various pickleball programs to include adult and junior programs, lessons, special events and clinics.
Essential Duties:
  • Assist with developing and implementing comprehensive pickleball instructional programs.
  • Conduct private and group lessons, clinics, drill sessions, and workshops to improve players' techniques, strategies, and overall game performance.
  • Assist with organizing and scheduling leagues, to give members the opportunity to have some outside competitive play.
  • Assist with organizing and running pickleball tournaments and social events.
  • Prioritize managing Open Play sessions with the flexibility to participate.
  • Seek opportunities to play with all skill levels to promote improvement, engagement and participation in lessons and clinics.
  • Provide players personalized feedback and guidance, identifying improvement areas and developing customized training plans
  • Provide club ratings for residents, as requested.
  • Stay current with industry trends, teaching methodologies, and rules/regulations of pickleball to enhance coaching effectiveness.
  • Communicate regularly with the department manager to coordinate scheduling, program development, and operational logistics.
  • Assist with the upkeep of the online Court Reservation system (Court Reserve) to ensure it is complete and up to date.
  • Ensure courts are blocked as needed for socials, Community Groups, lessons, clinics, drills, and league play (DUPR & LWRC).
  • Collaborate with the management team to promote pickleball offerings to generate improvement, engagement, and participation in lessons and clinics.
  • Assist with maintaining pickleball equipment, including courts, nets, paddles, and balls, ensuring they are in optimal condition for play.
  • Foster a positive environment that encourages sportsmanship, teamwork, and enjoyment of the game among residents and their guests.
  • Enforce the guest policy by being aware of the schedule and being present at the courts as much as possible.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:
  • Passion for pickleball and strong playing ability (4.0+ level preferred).
  • USAPA (USA Pickleball Association) certification as a Teaching Professional or equivalent qualification preferred.
  • Proven experience in teaching pickleball lessons and coaching players of varying skill levels.
  • Strong understanding of pickleball rules, strategies, and techniques, with a passion for sharing knowledge and fostering player development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with individuals and groups of diverse backgrounds.
  • Organizational skills with the ability to plan and execute instructional programs, events, and tournaments.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed to accommodate peak playing times and events.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
  • A positive attitude, enthusiasm for the sport, and dedication to delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Possess a working knowledge of Computer skills like MS Office.

Pay Rate:
$15.00 per hour + Commission on teaching lessons and event runs.
Physical Demands:
  • Frequently stands, walks, uses hands, talks, hears, reaches with hands and arms, climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls.
  • Occasionally sits.
  • Regularly lifts up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds.

Environment/Noise:
  • Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions.
  • Indoor court environment as well.
  • Noise level is moderate.

Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Preferences:
  • Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the staff may be required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment used are in English).
  • Skill level equivalent to a minimum 4.0 DUPR rating.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must have basic computer and email skills.
