Position Description
Pay Grade: Manager 2
The Assistant Athletic Director for External Operations will create awareness and develop resources for the intercollegiate athletics program at Wake Technical Community College to enhance the fan and student-athlete experience.
Responsibilities and Duties (*Essential Functions)
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential job functions satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the primary job functions herein described.
*Assist the Athletic Director with any fundraising initiatives and helps support any direct support organization (DSO) operated within the Wake Tech Community College Foundation
*Supports marketing and brand strategies to increase college-wide and community awareness of Wake Technical Community College Athletics with support from Communication and Marketing
*Creates digital content for the Wake Tech Athletics social media accounts and website including gameday graphics, articles, and interviews with coaches and student athletes in concert with Communication and Marketing
*Managing gameday staff, including live stream, scoreboard and clock operators, and statisticians, creating game programs as needed, gameday previews, in-game graphics for video board, all other sports information material, and may supervise part-time staff.
*Assists the Athletic Director and coaches with travel request and reimbursement, purchase orders, P-Card transactions and other day-to-day operations
Recording and updating stats to meet NJCAA standards and keep a record of all Wake Tech athletic team statistics for archival purposes.
Set-up and take down on- and off-campus athletic venues for home games as needed.
Assists Student Activities with Wake Tech mascot appearances as needed.
Supports the Athletic Director in support of general Athletic Department operations and initiatives including student-athlete retention, recruiting, and NJCAA compliance/eligibility.
Develops and implements a program that provides opportunities for students to serve in support of the Wake Technical Community College Athletics program
Serves as initial contact for the Athletics Department regarding scheduling, game times, venue information, and interacting with student athletes. Provides general support to coaches as needed.
May serve as an official administrator as required by the NJCAA
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of marketing and advertising program techniques
General knowledge of the best practices of intercollegiate athletics at the NJCAA, NCAA, or NAIA level
Knowledge of corporate sponsorships and agreements
Demonstrated public relations skills
Ability to work successfully with diverse populations, to plan, and to adapt to change
Ability to work with college-aged student athletes
Excellent organizational skills
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
Intermediate skills with MS Office products
Ability to work outside of normal business hours including nights and weekends
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's Degree
Two years of experience in intercollegiate athletics, recreational programs, or related work; or other relevant communications work experience
Experience creating digital content for websites, social media, and graphic design
Preferences
Experience in a communications capacity within intercollegiate athletics
Experience in fundraising or online fundraising platforms
