Job description

Position Summary

The Graduate Assistant for Facilities & Game Operations is responsible for assisting with the daily operations of Campbell University Athletics facilities and supporting the planning, coordination, and execution of home athletic events. This position provides valuable hands-on experience in athletic facilities, event management, and game operations while working closely with coaches, student-athletes, campus partners, officials, and external stakeholders.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Acceptance into a Campbell University graduate program.
  • Previous experience working within an athletics department preferred.
  • General knowledge of collegiate athletics and game operations.
  • Ability to assist with sport-specific facility setup and event preparation.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with student-athletes, coaches, staff, officials, campus partners, and alumni.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and travel as necessary to support athletic competitions and special events.

Essential Functions

  • Assist in the scheduling, coordination, and supervision of the daily operations of all Campbell Athletics facilities.
  • Assist with the maintenance, upkeep, and operational readiness of all athletic venues.
  • Coordinate facility setup, breakdown, and logistics for practices, competitions, camps, and special events.
  • Assist with planning and executing major athletic and departmental events.
  • Support facility improvement projects and other operational initiatives.
  • Coordinate and supervise game operations for assigned sports.
  • Schedule, train, and supervise student workers and event staff for assigned athletic contests.
  • Manage game-day logistics, including facility preparation, security coordination, parking operations, officials' hospitality, visiting team services, and overall event management.
  • Coordinate and oversee visiting team arrivals and game-day accommodations.
  • Maintain event management inventories, equipment, and operational supplies.
  • Ensure athletic facilities are maintained in a safe, clean, and professional condition.
  • Foster a positive work environment through effective communication and collaboration with students, coaches, administrators, faculty, parents, officials, vendors, and guests.
  • Assist with departmental projects and perform other duties as assigned.

The Graduate Assistant will be accountable for:

  • Coordinating and executing game operations for assigned athletic events.
  • Scheduling, training, and supervising student workers for facilities and event management.
  • Ensuring athletic venues are properly prepared and restored before and after practices, competitions, and special events.
  • Delivering a first-class game-day experience for student-athletes, coaches, officials, and spectators.
  • Demonstrating professionalism, reliability, initiative, and strong customer service while representing Campbell University Athletics.
