Job description

Position: Late Night Staff

Wage:$17.42 to $18.67 per hour (Compensation is determined based on relevant experience, skills, and qualifications, with most new hires starting between the minimum and midpoint of the posted wage range)

Hours:Part-Time, Up to 25 hours per week

Location:Pearl Street Family YMCA, Tacoma, WA

As a Late Night Staff, you will be responsible for providing a positive environment for teens to participate in open gym, workout equipment, basketball, swimming, and various other events after hours at the YMCA. Individuals in this role are responsible for providing a quality experience to participants and parents focused on YMCA core values: caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to pass Background and Reference checks (in accordance with the WA State Fair Chance Act).
  • Committed to valuing and promoting diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
  • Able and willing to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day, and other online and in-person training as required.
  • Minimum 21 years of age for Late Nite staff and 18 years of age for 6,7,8 Nite staff.
  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred
  • You have six months or more of related experience preferred.
  • You have the ability to provide guidance and be a role model for the youth in the facility.
  • You have a positive attitude and previous experience with teens and diverse populations.
  • You have knowledge and skills in program activities and related sports and office equipment, and the ability to instruct participants in techniques.
  • CPR, First Aid, AED certifications preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, lead, and assist participants in skill development, game play, and social interaction.
  • You are committed to valuing and promoting diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment
  • Create lesson plans for a variety of teen appropriate activities.
  • Implement and ensure program quality through best practices and on-going evaluation (i.e. surveys, focus groups, youth voice, etc.).
  • Provide safety and supervision for all Late Night participants.
