Middle School Coach (Grades 6 8)
Reports To: Athletic Director / Principal
Hourly Rate: $16.00 an hour
Position Summary
The Middle School Coach is responsible for developing student-athletes in grades 6 8 by teaching the fundamentals of the sport, promoting teamwork, and fostering a positive and safe environment. The coach will emphasize skill development, sportsmanship, academic achievement, and personal growth while preparing students to compete at an age-appropriate level.
Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, and lead practices that teach fundamental skills, rules, and strategies.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship.
  • Supervise and ensure the safety of student-athletes during practices, games, and travel.
  • Maintain open communication with parents, students, and school staff.
  • Promote academic success by monitoring eligibility and encouraging classroom achievement.
  • Care for equipment, uniforms, and facilities; ensure proper storage and return.
  • Model professional conduct and serve as a positive role model for students.
  • Comply with school, district, and league rules, policies, and procedures

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Prior coaching or playing experience in the sport preferred.
  • Knowledge of the rules, skills, and strategies of the sport.
  • Ability to teach fundamentals in an age-appropriate manner.
  • Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain).
  • Must meet district and requirements (fingerprint clearance, background check, training modules, etc.).
