Job Description
The Host/Cashier is responsible for providing superior service to both the internal and external customer. The position is also responsible for greeting guests, arranging for prompt seating, and for performing all sales transactions. This individual is responsible for ensuring that guests feel welcome and comfortable in accordance with Belterra Casino Resort customer service standards.
The Host/Cashier:
  • Is responsible for actively building and retaining customer relations and acts as a mentor to other employees while providing superior customer service.
  • Has the resiliency to deal with difficult customers in all types of business conditions and the ability to work harmoniously with coworkers.
  • Greets guests in a friendly, courteous manner and arranges for seating; monitors room atmosphere.
  • Provides information on all aspects of Boyd Gaming's services and facilities to guests.
  • Quotes accurate waiting times and handles guest waiting lists or reservations in accordance with established procedures.
  • Is responsible for the pickup, countdown and return of cash bank from miscellaneous count.
  • Opens register, prepares and completes all paperwork for assigned outlet in an organized manner.
  • Answers inquiries before completing sales transactions

Qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with guests
  • Demonstrated proper telephone etiquette
  • Demonstrated ability to operate electronic reservation system and flow charts
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain all appropriate licenses / certifications per Federal, State, and Gaming regulations.
  • Must be at least 16 years of age.

These skills and abilities are typically acquired through two (2) months of on-the-job training or through related cashier or host experience.
