Summary:                    

The Manager, Game Day Promotions & Programming is responsible for creating the FUN and building the VIBE that exists within Fifth Third Park for Hub City Spartanburgers games and other events. This includes but is not limited to the planning and execution of in-game entertainment, including mascots, music/sounds, on-field promotions, giveaways and the management of non-sponsored game elements. This position will work with all other departments, including sales and marketing, to make ensure that the Burger Ball experience at Fifth Third Park is creating SMILES, MEMORIES and FUN for everyone!


Responsibilities: 

  • Think creatively to develop a “show” around the baseball that is FUN, engaging and unique each and every game.
  • Build, train, maintain and motive a team of entertainers, including emcees, on-field hosts, DJ/musicians, characters, that help create and execute the “show”.
  • Manage live entertainment at and around Fifth Third Park on game days, including the front gate band and any other entertainers present.
  • Work closely with Group Sales staff to develop theme nights and special events that generate group sales opportunities.
  • Build and maintain a budget that accounts for giveaways, fireworks, celebrity appearances, drone shows, unique activations, etc.
  • Work directly with vendors that supply giveaway items to buy, schedule and execute successful giveaway nights that drive ticket sales and attendance.
  • Proactively research trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to stay on the forefront of promotions and new products in the industry.
  • Oversee promotional calendar creation and maintenance and ensure that access to current calendar is available to appropriate parties.
  • Develop plan for theme nights including pregame, in-game, and postgame elements of the event and character appearances with the intent to secure sponsors and drive ticket sales.
  • Coordinate logistics for game day appearances/entertainment including but not limited to contracting entertainers, set up and take down.
  • Coordinate promotions/products/games/events with Manager, Corporate Partnerships to ensure all contracts, including MiLB contracts, are executed and satisfied. 
  • Manage execution of promotions, both sponsored and non-sponsored, as needed.
  • Ensure event scripts are fun and interesting and that they meet team and sponsor goals.
  • Make calls and coordinate with outside organizations related to table displays or other opportunities to participate and execute on games/events/theme nights.
  • Procure items needed to execute sponsored promotions – primarily giveaways but also supplies to be used in promotions – ensuring all deadlines related to marketing and game dates are met.
  • Partner with Ticket Sales leaders to support the creation of Fan Experience Packages for Field of Dreams, National Anthem and other pre/in game performances that drive group sales.
  • Oversee scheduling of national anthem singers and assist with necessary add-on sales.
  • Work directly with the Marketing department to plan, coordinate and evaluate marketing plans for sponsored promotions and theme nights.
  • Clearly communicate all elements of promotions/products/theme nights to staff, customers and public with the goal of increasing attendance at Spartanburgers events.
  • Assist, as needed, with video shoots/appearances with Spartanburgers players, mascots, and staff for the purpose of promoting ticket and sponsorship sales.
  • Hire, train, schedule and motivate the Burger Bunch, which is the in park entertainment team that helps execute on-field games, hype up the crowd and create lasting memories for fans.
  • Coordinate assigned staffing of games/events, and supervise assigned gameday staff. 
  • Maintain select software systems related to game and event operations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
