Job description

JOB SUMMARY:
The Music Producer is a 9-month seasonal position responsible for developing and executing the overall music strategy for Utah Jazz game presentation from September through May. This role will own the creation of a dynamic, engaging, and team-specific arena soundtrack by curating music libraries, building situational moments, producing custom audio assets, and collaborating with Game Presentation, Creative, Marketing, and Event Operations teams to elevate the fan experience throughout the season. *Candidates will need to live within the greater Salt Lake City area for the duration of the season*
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Own and manage all game-day music libraries and playlists across playback systems, ensuring content is current, organized, and aligned with the Utah Jazz brand identity.
  • Curate music selections for all in-game moments, including pregame, player introductions, timeouts, momentum shifts, defensive and offensive pushes, scoring runs, crowd engagement moments, breaks in play, and postgame celebrations.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive library of situational music moments and triggers that support game flow and enhance emotional storytelling.
  • Partner with Game Presentation Producers to align music selections with in-game scripts, promotions, sponsor moments, contests, and entertainment elements.
  • Create custom tracks, edits, remixes, stingers, sound effects, and audio moments specific to the Utah Jazz environment.
  • Collaborate with Video and Creative teams to support audio production needs for content creation, including selecting, editing, and preparing music for digital and social content.
  • Identify opportunities to improve timing, pacing, energy levels, and transitions throughout the live event experience.
  • Support the in-arena DJ and game presentation team with music direction, recommendations, and creative guidance.
  • Monitor trends in music, sports entertainment, and fan behavior to continuously evolve the arena soundtrack.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Strong understanding of music curation, live event production, and sports entertainment.
  • Experience DJing, producing music, or creating audio content.
  • Ability to understand crowd energy, game flow, and how music impacts fan behavior.
  • Knowledge of BPM, tempo mapping, and music theory as it relates to live entertainment pacing.
  • Strong knowledge of current music trends across multiple genres.
  • Experience with Ableton Live, Logic Pro, Pro Tools, Adobe Audition, or similar audio production software preferred.
  • Knowledge of the NBA rules and regulations is preferred.

COMMITMENT (SEPTEMBER - MAY):
  • Operate live audio playback systems during all Utah Jazz home games and select special events during the season.
  • Attend and collaborate with the Game Presentation team in pre-production meetings and game-day rehearsals.
  • Assist with troubleshooting music playback systems and ensure all audio assets are properly prepared before events.
  • Maintain a minimum of 10 hours per week dedicated to music curation, audio production, playlist development, trend research, and preparation for upcoming games and events.
  • Maintain a flexible schedule, with weekly hours ranging from approximately 15 to 60 based on game schedules, rehearsals, special events, and production needs.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and a high volume of event days throughout the season.
  • This position is a 9-month seasonal role from September through May, aligned with the NBA season.
