Job description

The Cook prepares, seasons, and cooks meats, vegetables, and other foods for consumption in accordance with specified recipes and plating guides.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Prepares food orders based on the specified recipes, taking into consideration guest requests.
  2. Adjusts thermostat controls to regulate temperature of grills and deep fryers.
  3. Measures and mixes ingredients according to recipe to prepare salads, sauces, etc.
  4. Grills and/or frys meats, chicken, and fish.
  5. Cooks on food fryers, grills, and flat tops.
  6. Adds seasoning to foods during mixing or cooking.
  7. Observes and tests foods being cooked by either pressure testing and/or use of a thermometer to determine whether each item is properly cooked.
  8. Ensures portion sizes and plates foods based on established plating guides.
  9. Ensures proper labeling and rotation of foods
  10. Ensures work areas are clean and sanitized
  11. Understands and observes all health and safety regulations
  12. Other related food duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
  2. Ability to multi-task and prioritize work demands
  3. Must be detail oriented

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  1. High School Diploma or GED
  2. Experience as a line cook in a similarly sized kitchen strongly preferred

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Missouri Level II Gaming License that will be provided by Mark Twain Casino

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must be able to effectively communicate in English both verbal and written.
