Palmetto Bluff is nestled along the May River in the Lowcountry of South Carolina between Hilton Head Island and Savannah. As an award winning 20,000 acre development, the development encompasses a private memberโ€™s only club which includes a marina, restaurants, an equestrian center, a shooting club, a Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course, The Crossroads Reversable King Collins Golf Course, Anson Point Golf Course designed by Coore and Crenshaw, a lawn and racquet club, a community farm, and more. In addition, Palmetto Bluff has an extensive nature preserve, walking trails, retail shopping, art gallery, and a vibrant village, all which pay homage to the regionโ€™s rich heritage.

Job Summary:


Flow Gallery and Workshop here at Palmetto Bluff is seeking a part-time Gallery Attendant to join our team. Candidate must have a strong desire to sell art and possess excellent customer service skills. The candidate must be willing to work weekends and occasional evenings and have great attention to detail, be energetic, self-motivated and be willing to engage customers.

No previous experience is required but some background in art, retail or customer service/sales would be an asset. Hours are 10 am to 5 pm as well as occasional evenings for openings and events.

The Gallery Attendant will greet and assist customers, process sales, re-stock and organize inventory, assist with visual merchandising, customer service and much more. The Gallery Attendant is an ambassador of Palmetto Bluff and will be expected to be knowledgeable about all amenities and experiences available on property as well as aware of what is taking place on property each day.

Essential Functions:

Job duties include, although are not limited to:

  • Greet all guests warmly upon arrival
  • Provide assistance to guests in the Gallery, both by telephone and face to face
  • Actively sell merchandise to achieve daily sales goals
  • Maintain retail displays, replenishing and rearranging stock as necessary
  • Accurately process payments per established standards
  • Execute the shipping of guest purchases as requested, maintain packing supplies.
  • Participate in monthly physical inventories in all stores as required
  • Proactively communicate low stock or customer requests
  • Perform end of shift closeout accurately and efficiently
  • Handle all returns and refund per standards
  • Promote positive relations with guests and staff members
  • Attend all meetings and training sessions as scheduled

Qualifications:

  • High School graduate
  • Experience in a retail, gallery or customer service environment
  • Experience in the hospitality industry helpful
  • Excellent written/verbal communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with co-workers, support departments, and guests
  • Professional and personable demeanor


Physical Demands:

  • Position requires walking and standing most of the working day; must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 6 hours in length. Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill tasks. Requires manual dexterity, grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, and climbing.
  • Valid driverโ€™s license or reliable method of transportation to/from work
  • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time
  • Ability to carry up to 35 lbs.
  • Talking and listening occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and subordinates.
  • Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
