Job description

Artisan Partners has an immediate opening for a Trader to work in our Program Trading & FX team. The Program Trading & FX team is responsible for the efficient execution of trades in support of implementing investment decisions as well as the evolution of Artisan's execution strategy. ย In addition, the team plays a critical role in supporting and scaling Artisan's ETF offering and platform, including building out the trading, liquidity, and ecosystem across both the primary and secondary markets.ย  The trader will be an integral addition to this team.

The candidate should have a proven background in trading global equity baskets, algorithmic trading, dispersion and execution analysis, and portfolio construction. This role partners closely with trading, investment teams, trade operations, technology and compliance.

Location: San Francisco, CA

Responsibilities

The candidate is expected to:

  • Assist in the analysis and implementation of portfolio construction for account transitions, client and regulatory guidelines, rebalances, and cash flow events, and execution of the necessary equity and FX-related orders
  • Review and manage investment dispersion relative to models for multiple global strategies and portfolios, including various vehicle types (mutual funds, separately managed accounts, private funds, etc.)
  • Support ETF-related activities, including primary market interactions (creations and redemptions) and executions of trades and FX tied to ETF flows
  • Maintain trading blotter, including but not limited to: building trades, running trades through compliance (addressing alerts and warnings), routing trades and execution instructions to brokers, confirming trades with brokers, allocating and booking out trades
  • Support transaction cost analysis (TCA) as well as develop trade strategies through pre/intra/post trade data analysis to optimize trade execution to minimize market impact, transaction costs and risk.
  • Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, acting as a partner to Trading, Portfolio Managers and Analysts
  • Deliver on ad hoc requests related to Program Trading and FX, while monitoring market conditions and liquidity in real time, and staying up to date on relevant market structure and news for various markets
  • Partner with Technology to continuously identify areas to improve and automate workflows as well as evaluate new tools and processes
Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Additionally, the ideal candidate will possess:

  • Undergraduate degree in finance, economics or business
  • Comprehensive understanding of financial services, investment products, securities operations and trade lifecycle
  • 3-5 years of trading experience with a strong background in equity markets, including trading baskets and algorithmic trading
  • ETF knowledge preferred, including familiarity with primary market structure (creations and redemptions), secondary market dynamics (liquidity, spreads, premiums/discounts), and portfolio implementation related to ETF flows
  • Familiarity with FX markets and currency hedging a plus
  • Strong analytical, quantitative skill set with proven experience using advanced technology to create efficiency
  • Dedication to quality and a strong work ethic
  • Proven ability to cultivate relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent oral and written presentation and interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience with Bloomberg, Charles River, and Flex Trade a plus
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • FINRA Series 7 license a plus

Base Salary Range: $125,000 - $160,000

Specific placement within the provided range will be determined by an individual's geographic location as well as relevant experience and skills for the role. Base salary is only one component of our total compensation package. Associates may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, which is determined upon Firm and individual performance.
