Futonland is looking for a motivated, reliable, and sales-driven Sales Associate / Store Manager to join our Brooklyn, NY showroom.
We are looking for someone who enjoys working with customers, understands how to close sales, and can help manage the day-to-day showroom experience. The ideal candidate is friendly, professional, organized, and comfortable selling furniture, mattresses, sofa beds, futons, and space-saving furniture solutions.
This is a great opportunity for someone with retail sales experience who wants to grow into a stronger leadership role.

Futonland has been serving customers since 1995, specializing in futons, sofa beds, natural mattresses, Japanese-style furniture, platform beds, storage beds, and space-saving furniture. We work with customers both in-store and online, helping them find practical and comfortable furniture for apartments, homes, guest rooms, offices, and small spaces.
Responsibilities:
  • Greet and assist customers in the showroom.
  • Help customers choose the right furniture, mattress, futon, sofa bed, or accessory based on their needs.
  • Educate customers on product options, sizes, materials, comfort levels, delivery options, and lead times.
  • Follow up with customers by phone, email, and chat to help close sales.
  • Prepare quotes, assist with orders, and provide accurate product information.
  • Work with online and in-store customers to improve sales conversions.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional showroom.
  • Help manage daily store operations, including opening/closing procedures when needed.
  • Monitor customer inquiries, pending quotes, and open opportunities.
  • Coordinate with customer service, warehouse, and delivery teams to ensure smooth order fulfillment.
  • Assist with customer concerns, exchanges, delivery questions, and basic service issues.
  • Help train and support other sales or showroom team members.
  • Meet or exceed sales goals and contribute to store performance.
  • Provide feedback on customer needs, popular products, pricing, and showroom improvements.

Requirements:
  • Retail sales experience required.
  • Furniture, mattress, home goods, or interior design sales experience preferred.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to build trust with customers and guide them through the buying process.
  • Comfortable asking questions, recommending products, and closing sales.
  • Strong follow-up skills by phone and email.
  • Organized, reliable, and detail-oriented.
  • Comfortable using computers, email, order systems, and point-of-sale tools.
  • Experience with Zendesk, G-Suite / Google Workspace, and customer service platforms is a plus.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Positive attitude and professional appearance.
  • Must be available to work weekends.
  • Management or assistant manager experience is a plus.

Ideal Candidate
The right person for this role is not just an order taker. We are looking for someone who can listen to customers, understand their needs, recommend the right solution, and follow through until the order is completed.

You should be comfortable working with different types of customers, from walk-in shoppers to online buyers, designers, landlords, offices, and customers furnishing small apartments or guest rooms.

Compensation:
  • Base salary, plus commission and performance bonus.
