Job description

FURNACE OPERATOR

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 2:30pm - 11:00pm

No previous experience required, willing to invest time/training into the right person that is looking for a long-term career in the heat-treating industry.

Endothermic, Vacuum & Temper Furnace Operator

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • · Ability to understand and read the traveler
  • · Follow verbal and written instructions
  • · Fill out the weekly maintenance sheets
  • · Keep the department neat and clean
  • · Gain knowledge of the furnaces: overtemps, atmosphere control, quench oil, generator, probes
  • · Ability to install and remove charts and proper chart signoff for documentation
  • · Ability to use SSI control instrumentation for charts
  • · Track steps in and out of computer in Visual Track
  • · Ability to follow a schedule
  • · Ability to perform basic hardness testing
  • · Proper handling methods and maintenance of lot control
  • · Part counting and packing methods
  • · Move work in scheduled areas
  • · Wear safety glasses, uniforms and safety shoes
  • · Support other departments when asked

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • · Basic computer, Visual Track, SSI charts
  • · Forklift operations
  • · Communication, verbal, phone and computer
  • · Hand & power tools
  • · Ability to read and speak the English language
  • · Ability to work well with others

Physical Demands:

  • · Ability to manually lift, push or pull a maximum of 40 pounds
  • · Ability to sit or stand a minimum of 2 hours at one time
  • · Ability to get in and out of a standard forklift
  • · Ability to climb stairs and walk a minimum of 1⁄2 mile at one time

Work Environment:

  • · The position is in a manufacturing environment and involves the ability to sit, stand, walk and lift for long periods of time throughout the day.
