  • Place furnaces in a large oven to dry out after linings are replaced.

Job description

Furnace Builder
We are looking for a Furnace Builder for our Plymouth MI facility. In this role you will melt metal alloys using steel shell induction furnaces. These furnaces are lined with a ceramic crucible which sustains damage over time. When enough damage occurs, the furnace is cooled down and sent to the Furnace Builder. The role of the Furnace Builder is to remove the old lining and replace the lining by hand. Since molten metal is inherently dangerous, it is critical that new furnace linings are built properly. In addition to furnace linings, the Furnace Builder is responsible for inspecting the overall condition of each furnace. Most repairs to the furnace are handled by the Furnace Builder, but complex issues may be brought to Plant Maintenance. Once the furnaces are inspected and linings are replaced, the Furnace Builder places them in a large oven to dry out.
