Job description

Job Summary:
Maximus is a trusted federal partner supporting mission-critical programs across national security, defense, and public service delivery. The Cross Functional Test Engineer serves as an independent validator for system changes, performing manual and automated testing to ensure quality and stability across cloud and on-prem environments.
Responsibilities:
• Serve as an independent, second ‑ level validator for system changes.
• Perform testing activities following system modifications, including patching, upgrades, reconfigurations, and configuration changes across enterprise environments.
• Develop, execute, and maintain test plans, test cases, test scripts, and test results, providing timely reporting to support operational and release decisions.
• Conduct installation, security, interoperability, failover/recovery, and load testing across development, integration, and production environments.
• Support testing for cloud and on ‑ prem environments, including Azure, AWS, Windows and virtual machines, Oracle and SQL databases, network infrastructure, and security systems.
• Implement and maintain automated test scripts to enable repeatable execution, improve efficiency, and reduce testing bottlenecks tied to release schedules.
• Operate as an integrated testing partner across core services, aligning with development and operations teams to accelerate delivery while maintaining system stability.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust is required.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen without dual citizenship.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent work experience.
• 1+ years of experience in IT system testing or quality assurance within enterprise environments.
• Experience developing and executing manual and automated test cases.
• Experience testing system changes following patching, upgrades, and configuration changes.
• Familiarity with enterprise IT environments, including cloud platforms, databases, and operating systems.
• Ability to document test results, defects, and risks clearly and consistently.
• Experience working in segregated implementation and testing models (tester independent of implementer).
Preferred:
• Experience supporting federal government environments.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks.
• Exposure to security testing aligned with NIST or federal security controls.
• Strong collaboration skills for working across multiple core service teams in a shared-responsibility model.
