Job description

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
To provide nutritional counseling and education which meets the needs of an aging population. Participate as a member of the health care delivery team in the assessment of individual resident needs and as part of the dining services team in the decision making process of meeting resident needs.
The person in this role is also expected to:
  • Uphold and put into daily practice the values of Carol Woods.
  • Support the well-being and quality of life of every individual resident.
  • Function as a good steward of resident resources.
  • Contribute to Carol Woods approach to continual quality improvement.
  • Support the concepts of a learning organization.
REPORTS TO: Director of Dining Services
SURVISES TO: N/A
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
  • Complete initial and follow up nutrition assessment visits for Carol Woods and non-Carol Woods residents on Medicare Certified, Sheltered Care and Assisted Living units in accordance with carol Woods timelines and state regulations.
  • Complete initial and follow-up nutrition assessment visits as needed for Carol Woods independent living residents via clinic/staff consultation requests as well as via direct resident requests.
  • Complete computer nutrition assessment data entries regarding Carol Woods and non-Carol Woods residents on Medicare Certified and sheltered care units in accordance with Carol, Woods timelines state regulations.
  • Provide nutritional counseling and education to residents.
  • Participate as active member of Care plan team in weekly care plan sessions held for residents on Medicare certified unit
Participle as active member of Care Plan team in monthly care plan sessions held for residents on sheltered care unit.
  • Participate with Healthcare and Dining Services Team in development of food programs to comply with mandated certifications.
  • Participate as active member of Dining Services Team in menu development for independent and satellite dining areas
  • Develop House Diets for Health center residents.
  • Develop menus in conjunction with Building 4 kitchen staff for therapeutic diets and mechanically altered foods.
  • All other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in food and nutrition.
  • Registered Dietitian with current License to practice in North Carolina.
Experience:
  • Previous experience with older adults in a health care or retirement setting.
