Job description

Basic Purpose

Supports load research and forecasting efforts Performs data collection, basic analysis, and assists with various initiatives to support the development, evaluation, and analysis of historical class load shapes and long-term electric load and natural gas demand (Local Distribution Company) forecasts necessary to support corporate planning, programs and regulatory filings (integrated resource plans and general rate cases).

Support interval data validation, compilation and analysis of hourly class load data, components of energy demand and load forecasts, and/or respond to requests from internal and external customers. Additionally, you will assist in energy usage modeling and perform historical comparisons to support decision-making processes.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams and gain exposure to various aspects of energy analysis and the regulatory process in Nevada.

Essential Education, Skills, and Environment
Education and Work Experience

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field. Those candidates that do not possess a bachelor's degree must have a minimum of 4 years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills

Demonstrated knowledge of:
 Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
 Knowledge of various appropriate software programs (e.g. MV90, STATA, R, SAS, PowerBI) to enable successful completion of assigned modeling, statistical, or reporting analytics projects.
 Basic understanding of energy markets, load research, forecasting concepts, and/or statistical techniques.
Demonstrated skills such as:
 Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to use oral and written communication to present results to individuals with varying levels of understanding of concepts.
 Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information regarding company information.
 Ability to maintain high degree of accuracy and attention to detail while meeting established deadlines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Assists with developing and reporting results and/or recommendations of research studies that meet stakeholder needs.

  • Analyzes, interprets, and reports on data for purposes of formulating significant model inputs in load research and forecasting analytics projects.
  • Analyzes and identifies trends in growth, sales and usage by customer class.
  • Provides modeling and other analytical support to the unit's senior staff and internal stakeholders.

Assists with the administration of load forecasting and research projects to ensure successful outcomes, including the coordination with outside consultant participation. Assists with the development of new research projects, applications and procedures based on corporate planning, strategies, and new regulatory developments.

Provides analytical support for state and federal regulatory proceedings. Responds to ad-hoc data requests from internal and external customers, including State regulatory agencies, and other inquiries as assigned supporting the historical class loads and long-term electric and natural gas demand load forecasts of the company.

Communicates project results and recommendations through written and/or verbal reports and presentations.

Assist in coordination of cross-department information inputs and outputs. Provide quality review, tracking of deliverables and coordination with internal and external customers to maintain high degree of accuracy and attention to detail while meeting established deadlines.

Ensures all compliance aspects of position are known and followed; understands and complies with all policies, codes and regulations applicable to position and company. 

Performs related duties as assigned.
