Overview of Unit/Department

If you are looking for a position where you can be a part of a team that values quality nursing care and strong teamwork 3rd Floor Tower Cardiac might be just the place for you. We are a 36 bed Med-Surg Cardiac unit with a sub-specialty in vascular surgery post-op care. Our typical patient population includes post heart surgery patients (after a 24-48 hour stay in critical care), post op thoracic surgery patients as well as other vascular surgery patients. We are supported by a great group of surgeons who value our input and partner with us to provide the best care possible. We pride ourselves on being teamwork-oriented and quality-minded caregivers. We have several nurses that love to precept new staff and go all out to ensure their success on our unit. Our care is also supported and enhanced by a variety of disciplines and resources, such as virtual care nurses, Early Intervention Team, a de-centralized pharmacist, a dedicated educator and many others that enable us to give the best care. Our Recruitment and Retention Committee does an awesome job ensuring new employees are welcomed and made to feel at home from the beginning of employment. The Recruitment & Retention committee also plans a multitude of fun and engaging activities for staff to get involved and become an integral part of the team. Job Description:

The Registered Nurse is responsible for managing the care of the patients experiencing medical conditions or surgical procedures. The nurse must be able to assess patient condition, administer medications, change dressings, monitor vital signs, keep records and provide patients and families with support and education. The Registered Nurse maintains a wide array of medical care knowledge in order to care for a diverse group of patients.

Education
▪ Required: Graduate of an accredited nursing program or NLN approved program
▪ Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing


Experience:
▪ Preferred: Previous nursing experience
Skills:
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrate effective leadership abilities
