Qualifications: 

  • Advanced degree preferred in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering with 5 yrs of directly related experience.
  • Minimum of a BSEE degree with 6 to 10 yrs of directly related experience.
  • Will accept 12+ yrs of equivalent engineering design experience associated with designing instrumentation products, analytical instruments and/or related embedded control systems.

Responsibilities: 

  • Project contributor to the development and test of Light Detecting Systems involving CCDs, PDAs, InGaAs and CMOS sensors.
  • Involvement in all phases of product development: definition, design, qualification and production support.
  • Design of mixed signal circuits incorporating Op-Amps, Voltage References, DACs, ADCs and discrete semiconductors.
  • Design of FPGA based high speed digital circuitry incorporating LVDS and MIPI interfaces for sensor command & control.
  • Participation in the PCB board layout/routing definition stages for new board / product designs.
  • Contributions to board level test fixture designs

Requirements: 

  • Solid understanding of electrical engineering principles in both analog and digital domains.
  • Design knowledge of low noise / wide bandwidth analog and mixed signal circuits.
  • Experience with data acquisition systems incorporating the following interfaces: USB 2/3, Gig-E, LVDS, MIPI, SPI and I2C.
  • Knowledge of system level power distribution design and power management techniques.
  • Ability to guide multi-layer PCB board designs within stack-up, parts placement and routing requirements.
  • Familiarity with test equipment: Scopes, DVMs, Power Supplies, Function Generators and Logic / Spectrum Analyzers.
  • Sound test, troubleshooting and SMT soldering skills.
  • Production support experience.
  • Strong problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Attributes (one or more viewed as a plus): 

  • Knowledge of CCD and CMOS imager architectures a plus.
  • FPGA Design; Verilog and/or VHDL, Altera and/or Xilinx tools.
  • Experience with Mentor Graphics for schematic capture and PCB layout/routing.
  • Design experience with Renesas and Cypress processors.
  • Product design experience in meeting CE & LVD Safety directives.
  • Project leadership.
