Job description

Instructor - Sports-Multiple (Garfield Community Center)

If you have a knowledge and understanding of fundamentals of various types of sports and passion and experience of teaching kids, Associated Recreation Council (ARC) has a role for you as a Sports Instructor at Garfield Community Center. This is a part-time year-round role staring from Apr 2026.

Associated Recreation Council in partnership with Seattle Parks and Recreation is hiring Sports Instructor. The Sports Instructor at Garfield Community Center will lead a group of youth between the ages of 5-8 primarily in Soccer, Basketball, kickball, and Racket Sports and introduce participants to a variety of sports and athletic activities in a fun and supportive environment. The program focuses on helping youth build fundamental athletic skills while exploring different sports, developing teamwork, and staying active.

Start Date:

  • 4/1/2026

Schedule:  

  • Flexible weekdays, 5 hours per week (Year-round)

Sports Instructor duties and responsibilities:

  • Introduce participants to a variety of sports and athletic activities in a fun and supportive environment. The program focuses on helping youth build fundamental athletic skills while exploring different sports, developing teamwork, and staying active.
  • Enhance participants' skills in soccer, basketball, racket sports as they learn the fundamentals and play the games.
  • Emphasize mental attitude, the importance of teamwork, how to play as a team, and the benefits of playing sports.

Sports Instructor requirements include:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Experience planning and supervising recreational programs and/or educational activities for children

Pay Rate: 

  • Starting pay: $25.00

  • Full Pay Range: $25.00-$27.00/hour (Over time, the employee in this role may earn up to $35.00/hr with additional years of service)
