Position Description:
Implements Agile and DevOps practices throughout the software development life cycle (SDLC), including Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using Jenkins. Develop microservices architecture, implement caching strategies and optimize database queries and stored procedures for performance. Develop dynamic, responsive and user-friendly interfaces using Angular, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/TypeScript. Designs, develops and maintains robust backend services using Java, Spring Boot and Spring Security. Works with Cloud computing strategies and architecture (Kubernetes, Amazon Web Services (AWS) Fargate, and Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS)). Aligns with standard methodologies regarding object-oriented design, coding standards, RESTful service development and integration, common design patterns, secure application development, and test coverage. Provides business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Develops original and creative technical solutions to ongoing development efforts.

  • Designs applications or subsystems on major projects and for/in multiple platforms.

  • Develops applications for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.

  • Supports and performs all phases of testing leading to implementation.

  • Assists in the planning and conducting of user acceptance testing.

  • Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications supporting several corporate initiatives.

  • Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several initiatives.

  • Responsible for post-installation testing of any problems.

  • Works on complex assignments and often multiple phases of a project.

  • Modifies existing software to correct errors, adapt to new hardware, upgrade interfaces, and improve performance.

  • Conducts comprehensive code reviews to validate logic, adherence to coding standards.

  • Provides technical support to peers, sharing best practices and promoting knowledge transfer.

  • Engages with peers in technical and design discussions.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Senior Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing full stack Web applications using J2EE and Spring Boot within Agile development environments.
Or, alternatively, Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and one (1) year of experience as a Senior Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing full stack Web applications using J2EE and Spring Boot within Agile development environments.
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess:
  • Demonstrated Expertise ("DE") developing dynamic, responsive user interfaces using Angular, HTML, and CSS; integrating front-end components seamlessly with backend services and databases; and migrating the legacy backend systems (Java 8 to Java 11 and Spring Boot upgrades).

  • DE working with object-oriented design and Java web application development using J2EE, Spring MVC, and Spring Security, while building RESTful webservices; and developing microservices and writing SQL stored procedures, while optimizing existing database structures and fine-tuning SQL code for performance.

  • DE implementing Agile methodologies and leveraging CI/CD tools (Jenkins); performing secure code analysis using SonarQube, improving code coverage using Junit and Spock frameworks, and executing automation testing using Selenium; and identifying performance bottlenecks using profiling JProfiler, as well as supporting version control and team collaboration through Bitbucket and GitHub.

  • DE deploying and scaling application in cloud environments and implementing the change management using Liquibase; and performing code reviews to ensure adherence to coding standards, identify improvements, and optimizing the performance.
