Job Summary:
JOB SUMMARY:
The Lead Radiologic Technologist coordinates with the Supervisor Radiology and/or Manager Radiology to ensure that adequate resources are available to ensure exams are performed timely and meet department quality and safety standards. May assign personnel on a shift to specific jobs and adjust assignments as exam volume demands. Play a key pivotal direct clinical support role to a manager, supervisor or director.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Functions as a shift lead or key pivotal direct clinical support role for one or more modalities in Radiology.
  • Reviews radiology exam requests and patient identification to ensure safe, appropriate and cost effective imaging.
  • Applies broad range of skills to ensure advanced exams are completed timely and meets quality and compliance standards.
  • Coordinates with the Supervisor Radiology and Manager Radiology to ensure adequate staffing model is maintained for shift.
  • Assists in the orientation and training of new staff.

TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES:
  • People Management (Novice): Conducts performance reviews. Effectively delegates tasks to others. Coaches subordinates on technical and interpersonal topics, as well as professional development. Demonstrates team building techniques and provides leadership through personal example of good work habits, open communication and effective people relationships. Involves subordinates in decisions which affect them. Demonstrates self-reliance and resourcefulness as an example to others.
  • Patient Documentation (Advanced): Demonstrates the uppermost levels of expertise in applying patient documentation in challenging and complex situations. Often takes a lead role in highly pressurized situations when there is a need to achieve results. Consistently delivers patient documentation services in a creative and imaginative manner while setting a standard for others. Actively participates in outside professional organizations and forums. Contributes in the development of patient documentation best practices for the organization.
  • Compliance (Advanced): Demonstrates expert knowledge of the appropriate rules and regulations as they apply to the incumbent's department and work areas. Analyzes the rules and regulations for situations that are unusual and knows the interrelationship and implication of various rules and regulations in other areas of the department. Understands the flow of rules and regulations beyond the work area and can converse intelligently about alternatives and make recommendations for more effective rules and regulations to senior management. May represent the company at regional industry organizations meetings for discussing rules and regulations.
  • Anatomy & Physiology Knowledge (Advanced): Demonstrates the uppermost levels of expertise in applying anatomy and physiology knowledge in challenging and complex situations. Often takes a lead role in highly pressurized situations when there is a need to achieve results.
