Position Summary

Under the direction of a radiologist, performs those duties directly involved with a variety of technical procedures applying ionizing radiation. Instructs, schedules, evaluates and records performance of the Long Beach City College student radiologic technologists to contribute to their educational development. In conjunction with Imaging management the clinical educator will oversee the training, competency and MHS required YouLearn modules for all imaging technical staff. The success of the Long Beach City College Imaging Program and the training and competency of the imaging staff depends significantly on the incumbent's ability to participate well with others and/or collaborate with the Imaging Administration, Imaging Leads, Physicians and LBCC Administration.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

        Performs imaging procedures of diagnostically acceptable quality to fulfill guidelines of department protocol.

        Utilizes Radiology Information Systems (Radiant) and related interfaces as appropriate for job responsibilities to contribute to integration and success of automated patient care goals to include proactive ordering of surgery exams to expedite post procedures tasks.

        Communicate and maintain proper relations personally and on the phone with other department's, staff, physicians and families to ensure proper guest relations.

        Maintain accurate record-keeping for all Long Beach City College Radiologic Technology students, meet deadlines set by college and regulatory entities.

        Maintain accurate education record keeping for all Imaging Services technical staff. (i.e., YouLearn modules, CPR, newly acquired equipment competencies, 90-day review evaluation competencies and yearly CAT competencies.

        Performs imaging exams of diagnostically acceptable quality to fulfill guidelines of department protocol. Prepares equipment for exams to include cleanliness of exam area and equipment, prepares patient, identifies appropriate test to be performed, provides safe contrast media administration, provides additional information on x-ray requests to assist radiologists in dictating all necessary findings for exam(s).

        Initiates service calls for technical issues concerning imaging equipment and other equipment vital to patient imaging. Reports equipment malfunction to appropriate personnel. Uses imaging equipment per vendor guidelines. Treats equipment with care to maintain patient and staff safety.

        Performs other duties as assigned.

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. Qualifications/Work Experience:

 

        Two year continuous full time Radiologic Technologist student in CAHEA (JRCERT and AMA) approved school of Radiologic Technologist. Previous student coordinator experience preferred.

        Two years continuous full time Radiologic Technologist.

Education/Licensure/Certification:

 

        Two year continuous full time Radiologic Technologist student in CAHEA (JRCERT and AMA) approved school of Radiologic Technologist.

        Previous student coordinator experience preferred.
