We Are Looking for Someone Like You
Murphy Company is seeking a Quality Control Inspector for a project site in the Boulder, CO area. This prospective individual will work with the fabrication shop and project field teams to ensure quality expectations are met and ASME code requirements are met. The ability to communicate clearly and concisely with team members, peers, and various levels of management, and to diagnose fabrication issues and take appropriate action, is critical to success.
Your Day-to-Day at Murphy Company
Perform job walks pre, during, and post completion, including:
  • Weld inspection in the field and shop
  • Weld tracking
  • Welder qualifications and associated documentation
  • NDT coordination and interfacing with third-party inspectors
  • Interfacing with client QAQC representatives and inspectors
  • Generate and distribute weekly QAQC reports
  • Assembly of final turnover packages
  • Train new project members in site-specific SOPs

Assist in preparing, reviewing, and assembling documentation for ASME Code repairs and alterations. This will include selecting welding procedures, verifying welder qualifications, preparing material requisitions, receiving materials and verifying material documentation, verifying fabrication criteria, performing dimension checks, witnessing testing, and verifying that the TOP is complete and accurate.
Train new project members in site-specific SOPs

Our ideal candidate should possess the following traits:
  • Associate's degree in a technical field or completion of a Journeyman Program
  • 5 years of experience inspecting welds associated with ASME BPE, B31.1, B31.3, or other recognized piping codes
  • Experience maintaining weld tracking programs
  • Experience reading and interpreting ASME Section IX welding procedures
  • Working knowledge of NDT techniques
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to travel to multiple jobsites daily
  • Current Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) Certificate (preferred)
  • Experience with ASME Section VIII, Division 1 pressure vessels (preferred)
