Job description

Process Engineer: Freeport, IL
The Process Engineer is responsible for analyzing, developing, and improving manufacturing processes and methods, specifically related to the production and assembly of hydrostatic transmission components. This role ensures that engineering solutions support cost-effective, high-quality manufacturing and aligns with current best practices in engineering and manufacturing technologies. The Process Engineer will also manage special projects, including capital expenditures, new equipment implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze manufacturing and assembly/test processes to identify improvements in quality, cost, and efficiency.
  • Support shop floor personnel with tooling and process-related problem-solving.
  • Design and approve tooling and equipment necessary for production and assembly.
  • Develop and implement new processes and tooling to support new products or product changes.
  • Lead or support capital projects from concept through implementation, including justification and cost control.
  • Evaluate existing methods and designs to drive process improvements and cost reductions.
  • Serve as a technical liaison with Purchasing for special materials and equipment sourcing.
  • Create and maintain routings and process documentation for new product configurations.
  • Use industry-standard engineering tools and methodologies such as DFM, FMEA, Lean Manufacturing, 8D Problem Solving, and more.
  • Utilize CAD/CAM software (e.g., NX, GibbsCAM, AutoCAD) and simulation tools for process development.
  • Program or support programming of CNC, PLC, or system control equipment as required.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure alignment with quality, safety, and production goals.
  • Champion continuous improvement and ensure adherence to safety and regulatory standards.
Skills & Experience:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering, required
  • Experience: 2-5+ years’ experience supporting machining operations, required
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of machining processes, assembly/test equipment, & manufacturing best practices, required
  • Software: Exposure to CAD/CAM, CNC/PLC programming, & ERP Systems, required
