Job description

Building Location:32nd Avenue BuildingDepartment:3012780 PERFUSIONISTS - 32ND HOSPJob Description:Explore Essentia Perfusion Opportunities -Education Qualifications:See educational requirements in what you will need.

You will enjoy real, varied work. Our Fargo cardiac surgery program is the regional referral center for a large catchment area across North Dakota and Minnesota. Expect a steady case mix of adult cardiac surgery - CABGs, valve work, LVAD and ECMO support, and off-pump standby. High-quality, high-volume bread-and-butter cardiac work, with a team that takes pride in doing it well.

You'll work with a team that respects perfusion. You'll be part of a tight cardiac surgery team - surgeons, anesthesia, nursing, and a perfusion group that backs each other up. We staffed this position up to a 1.0 FTE specifically to make sure no one is stretched thin on coverage. That matters here.

You'll get paid well and treated well. Competitive compensation, full benefits, generous PTO, retirement contributions, and continuing education support so you can keep your ABCP credentials and clinical edge current. Relocation assistance is available for the right candidate.

You'll live somewhere that actually works. Fargo is consistently ranked one of the most affordable, livable mid-size cities in the country - low cost of living, no big-city commute, strong schools, a real downtown, four-season outdoor access, and an easy flight to almost anywhere. Your dollar and your time both go further here.

What You Will Do:

  • Perform clinical cardiopulmonary bypass during open-heart surgery.
  • Provide extracorporeal circulation support during LVAD and RVAD procedures.
  • Manage hypothermic re-warming, hyperthermic intraperitoneal therapy (HIPEC), PRP sequestration, and plasma pheresis.
  • Stand by for off-pump cardiac procedures, ready to initiate bypass when clinically indicated.
  • Collaborate closely with cardiac surgeons, anesthesia, nursing, and the broader OR team.
  • Maintain perfusion equipment and documentation in line with departmental and regulatory standards.

What You Will Need:

  • Current certification by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusionists (CCP), OR
  • Bachelor's degree and graduate of an accredited cardiopulmonary perfusion training program, with ability to obtain ABCP certification within three years of hire.

What Makes You a Strong Fit:

  • Experience with adult cardiac surgery, including LVAD/RVAD support.
  • New graduates of accredited perfusion programs are encouraged to apply - we'll support you through certification.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills within a multidisciplinary surgical team.

Work Location:

  • On-site at Essentia Health's 32nd Avenue Building in Fargo, ND.
  • Relocation assistance available.
