Accounts Payable Clerk
The Metropolitan at The 9 — Finance amp; Accounting
Employment Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Reports To: Director of Finance / Controller
Location: Downtown Cleveland, OH
Position Summary
The Accounts Payable Clerk is the operational backbone of the finance team. The role supports the Director of Finance and Controller with invoice processing, payment cycles, vendor account reconciliation, and accurate financial record keeping for the property.
Key Responsibilities
  • Process, verify, and code vendor invoices for accuracy and proper approval.
  • Match purchase orders, receipts, and invoices (three-way match) before processing payments.
  • Prepare and run weekly check, ACH, and wire payment cycles.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies quickly and professionally.
  • Maintain accurate, organized AP records and support month-end close.
  • Respond to vendor and internal inquiries with speed and a problem-solving mindset.
  • Assist with 1099 preparation and other accounting reports as needed.
  • Perform general cashiering duties, including preparing daily deposits, issuing change orders as needed, daily and monthly cash reconciliations.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 1 year accounts payable or general accounting experience, hotel or hospitality preferred.
  • Working knowledge of accounting software (e.g., M3, Sage, QuickBooks, or similar) preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel and Word.
  • Strong attention to detail and organization.
Physical Requirements
  • Primarily office-based, seated desk work with extended computer use.
  • Able to lift up to 25 lbs.
