Job description

Round Mountain is an open-pit mine located in Nevada, one of the best mining jurisdictions in the world. The mine uses conventional open-pit mining methods and processes ore by mill and heap leach. Kinross began operating the mine in 2003, and it has since become a continuous improvement leader in the Company's portfolio. Round Mountain poured its 15 millionth ounce in 2018. Round Mountain and the nearby Bald Mountain mine make up Kinross' Nevada operations.
The Round Mountain mine is an important contributor to the Nye County economy and, working with local stakeholders, has helped achieve significant improvements in healthcare and education in the area.
Job Description
Round Mountain Gold Corporation seeks an Environmental Superintendent in Round Mountain, NV. Round Mountain Gold Corporation is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Kinross Gold Corporation. Qualified candidates may be eligible for both a sign-on bonus and relocation assistance.
Work You'll Do
As a member of the site leadership team, incumbent will provide environmental services for Round Mountain Gold Mining Company operation and ancillary facilities (RMGC). Under the direction of the Environmental Manager, will ensure that company activities are conducted in accordance with company requirements and in compliance with local, state and federal environmental regulations and licenses. Will conduct all activities in a safe manner and align performance and daily functions to reflect Kinross' values.
Qualifications and Skill Requirements
1. A Bachelors degree in Environmental Engineering (preferred) or Environmental Science, or Natural Resource Management. A degree in a related scientific or engineering discipline (e.g., metallurgical or civil engineering, mining engineering, geology or chemistry) will be considered.
2. Additional specialized education of up to 4 years including masters level degree or licensure as a Professional Engineer.
3. Eight years of environmental regulatory experience, including five years' experience in the gold mining or metallic mining industry. Working experience at a gold mine preferred.
4. Familiar with federal and state environmental programs, BLM and local regulations as they relate to gold or other metallic mining operations.
5. Programmatic experience managing at least one of the following: all the requirements of water quality, air quality or waste management permits; the TRI program; or reclamation and closure including cost estimates & surety bonding.
6. Five years' experience supervising and evaluating the performance of other Environmental personnel.
7. Experienced with system(s) or database(s) established to manage regulatory obligations.
8. Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal and analytical skills. Able to communicate effectively with regulators and all levels of employees and management.
9. Strong administrative skills; five years managing projects, budgets and consultants.
10. Able to work independently and as part of a team, in cooperation with other departments.
11. Experienced using MS Office software: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access (or other database software).
12. Preference may be given to an individual with working experience in Nevada.
13. Must be at least 18 years old and authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
14. Must have a valid driver's license.
