Systems Integration & Test Engineer

Avidyne

Melbourne, FL • On-site

Full-time

Re-posted 17 days ago

Job description

If you're an engineer who wants to work on real avionics systems and not simulations nor sideline support, then this is the role for you. As a Systems Integration & Test Engineer at Avidyne, you'll get hands-on with aircraft-level integration, contribute to FAA certification efforts, and work alongside senior engineers who are invested in your growth.

Why Avidyne

At Avidyne, we exist to make aircraft easier to fly.

Our mission, Simply Flying, guides the products we design and the way we work. We build avionics that are high-quality, intuitive, and straightforward to install - helping pilots focus on what matters most.

What You'll Do

Systems Integration & Engineering

  • Execute assigned integration tasks for avionics systems across Part 23, 25, and 27 aircraft platforms.
  • Perform aircraft-level analysis of installation, performance, certification, and safety requirements (ARP-4754/4761), escalating complex issues as needed.
  • Develop and refine system and equipment-level requirements based on technical standards.
  • Take ownership of defined integration deliverables - requirements documents, interface definitions, test inputs - with accountability for accuracy and completeness.
  • Collaborate with hardware, software, and certification teams to identify and resolve integration issues.

Test & Verification

  • Prepare and execute system verification and validation tasks, including test setup, data collection, and troubleshooting.
  • Participate in systems, ground, and flight test evaluations, ensuring results are accurately recorded and reported.
  • Draft and maintain integration plans, test procedures, and related documentation.

Certification & Compliance

  • Contribute to FAA certification efforts by preparing compliance evidence, test results, and documentation.
  • Support internal reviews to confirm adherence to ARP-4754/4761, DO-178C, DO-254, and related standards.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to validate compliance of components and subsystems.

What You Bring

Technical Knowledge

  • Bachelor's degree in systems, computer, aerospace, or a related engineering discipline, plus 2+ years of relevant industry experience (or a Master's with less experience).
  • Applied knowledge of systems engineering, requirements development and management, and test engineering principles.
  • General familiarity with avionics subsystems, architectures, and aircraft-level interfaces.
  • Awareness of FAA certification processes and industry standards such as ARP-4754/4761, DO-178C, and DO-254.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Ability to execute assigned tasks independently and deliver accurate, well-documented results.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills for working across engineering teams, customers, and suppliers.
  • Organized approach to tracking tasks and managing priorities in a fast-moving development environment.

Bonus Points

  • Private Pilot License (PPL) or a demonstrated personal passion for aviation.
  • Master's degree in an engineering discipline.
  • Familiarity with CFR 14 Part 23, 25, or 27 aircraft.
  • Exposure to FAA TSO, STC, ASTM, AC, or TC processes.
