Job description


Monday-Friday, 8:00-4:30| Start Rate: $18.00
Job Purpose or Objective(s): The Ranch Assistant position is primarily responsible for assisting the Ranch Manager/Ranch Foreman implement the diversified operational plan consistent with the Choctaw Nation Agriculture Department's overarching mission and strategic plan.
Primary Tasks:
Monitor and provide supplemental feed, mineral and water to all livestock.
  1. Monitor and provide supplemental feed, mineral and water to all livestock.
  2. Assist with herd health, routine processing, calf pairing and transport activities.
  3. Identify unhealthy animals, when necessary, administer approved treatment program.
  4. Monitor forage availability and assist grazing management/utilization efforts.
  5. Perform routine (ex. chemical, mechanical and prescribed fire) pasture maintenance.
  6. Provide property upkeep including fence repair/construction, mowing, trimming, litter removal, painting, etc.) and security.
  7. Operate and perform maintenance on equipment including tractor, skid steer, chute, vehices, etc. safely and respectfully.
  8. Assist in hauling cattle and maintaining Cattletime database for CNO Ranches.
  9. Provides data and reports to management.
  10. Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Requirements:
  • Experience or knowledge of fence construction/repair, basic plumbing, excavation, road maintenance, brush control, hay/pasture management, equipment repair, etc.)
  • Good listening skills and has the ability to safely perform all duties
  • Knowledge of livestock care, stockmanship, and husbandry
  • CLD preferred
