Job description

Job Title: Cattle Ranch & Residence Management Team

Location: Catskills Upstate New York (On-site)
Position Type: Full-Time

Job Summary

Are you a handy, organized couple who loves the outdoors and the peace of upstate New York? Earn highly competitive base salaries plus a percentage of AirBnB rental income. Housing included in a beautiful fully furnished 3-bedroom, on-farm, creekside home.

We are looking for a dedicated and professional couple to help manage a cattle operation and 4 residences in Upstate New York. This role requires a balance of modest agricultural experience, property maintenance, cleaning and organizational skills, and hospitality management for several of the residences which are rented out. The ideal candidates are independent self-starters who thrive in a flexible environment, enjoy the outdoors, and have some mechanical skills.

Key Responsibilities

Agricultural & Property Maintenance:

  • Cattle Operations: Assist with daily cattle moves and coordinate with other farm managers.
  • Infrastructure: Maintain fences and stacked stone walls. Light carpentry and other repairs.
  • Grounds: Mowing, landscaping, apple orchard care, brush clearing and regular garbage/dump runs. Plowing and seasonal snow shoveling.
  • Home Systems: Manage and troubleshoot all home systems, including Nest thermostat installation and internet/IT management.

Household Management:

    • AirBnB Operations: Serve as the primary manager and point of contact for guests, receive percentage of AirBnB revenues in addition to salary.
    • Inventory & Groceries: Ensure all homes are fully stocked (firewood, groceries, household essentials) and remove expired items regularly.
    • Domestic Service: Perform house cleaning, laundry (bedding and clothes), and deep cleaning of kitchens and grills. Assist with cooking and light cleaning during visits; provide post-holiday cleaning (e.g., Thanksgiving).
    • Contractor Management: Schedule and monitor cost-effective repairs and fuel deliveries.
    • Travel: Occasionally drive to NYC or elsewhere as needed.

Requirements

      • Experience: Previous experience in property management, hospitality, and basic ranch work is preferred mechanically inclined is preferred, mechanical or light carpentry ability is helpful.
      • Physical: Comfortable with manual labor, outdoor work in all seasons, and moving furniture. Comfortable with tools and being outside.
      • Schedule: Flexibility to work around the owner family’s schedule, including weekend availability for grocery runs or light cleaning.
      • Independence: Proven ability to work autonomously and manage multiple properties effectively. Maintain discretion regarding all matters.

Compensation & Benefits

      • Salary: Competitive annual salary based on experience.

$40,000-$75,000 each.

      • Incentives: 10% revenue share of all AirBnB income.
      • Housing: Private accommodation in a three-bedroom ranch home overlooking a creek.

    Company Description

    Beautiful rolling meadows in the middle of the forever wild Catskill State Forrest. The property has been kept in pristine shape, with high tensile electric fence, as well as stone walls, enclosing the 120 acres of meadow. The property currently has 70 head of Angus / Wagyu cross animals in a certified organic intensive rotational grazing operation. It also has a number of properties used as AirBnB rentals as well as the owner and family who live on site for much of the year.
