About the role:
We are seeking a motivated Youth Coordinator to engage Sikh and Punjabi-heritage youth across the Seattle area. This role helps foster faith, culture, identity, and belonging by supporting young people (ages 8-35) as they explore their Sikh identity, connect with their Punjabi heritage, and build meaningful community connections. The ideal candidate has experience working with Sikh and Punjabi communities, is fluent in Punjabi, and has a background in youth engagement, education, or community outreach.
The Outreach Coordinator is responsible for engaging youth, encouraging participation in programs, and fostering long-term involvement through meaningful relationships and culturally responsive outreach.
What You'll Do:
Youth Outreach & Engagement
  • Deliver culturally relevant outreach programs targeting Sikh and Punjabi-heritage youth across schools, colleges, universities, Gurdwaras, and community spaces in Seattle.
  • Build trusted, supportive relationships with young people aged 8-35, providing support, mentorship, and guidance.

Program Delivery
  • Facilitate workshops, events, and activities that promote Sikh values (Seva, Simran, Sangat), Punjabi language, arts, and cultural heritage.
  • Coordinate youth camps, leadership programs, and intergenerational community events.
  • Collaborate with Gurdwaras, local schools, colleges, and partner organizations to extend program reach.

Identity & Wellbeing Support
  • Provide a safe, affirming space for young Sikhs navigating questions of faith, identity, and belonging
  • Advocate for the needs and voices of Sikh youth within wider community forums.

Community & Partnership Building
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Gurdwaras, community elders, parents, and local civic organizations.
  • Represent the organization at community events, interfaith forums, and local government engagements.
  • Work collaboratively with schools and educators to support Sikh cultural awareness and anti-discrimination efforts.

Administration & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate records of participant engagement, program activities, and outcomes in line with organizational safeguarding and data policies.
  • Contribute to grant reporting, program evaluations, and impact measurement.
  • Attend regular supervision, team meetings, and relevant training.

Skills & Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Sikh faith, values, traditions, and Punjabi cultural heritage, with the ability to engage authentically and respectfully with the community.
  • Fluency in spoken Punjabi (written is an advantage); proficiency in English.
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in youth work, community outreach, education, or a related field.
  • Proven ability to engage authentically with diverse young people and build trust.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding principles and child protection practices.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed to support community events and programs.
  • Ability to travel locally throughout the Seattle area to support outreach activities and community events.
  • Must pass a Washington State background check (WSP/FBI).

Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Youth Work, Social Work, Education, or Community Development.
  • Experience working within Gurdwara committees or Sikh youth organizations.
  • Knowledge of the Seattle Punjabi/Sikh community landscape.
  • Experience in grant writing or program evaluation.

Pay & Benefits:
The anticipated salary range for this position is $50,000 - $70,000. Actual pay will be based on job-related skills, experience, location, and internal equity, as permitted by Washington State law. Certain roles may be eligible for a bonus/incentive.
Roundglass benefits may include: 120 hours PTO to start (increases with tenure), 9 paid federal holidays +1 floating holiday, bereavement (up to 3 days), jury duty (up to 2 days), medical/dental/vision (PPO/HSA with employer contribution), EAP (Standard), pet insurance, employer-paid basic life/STD/LTD, and a 401(k) with employer match up to $5,000/year. Benefits vary by employment type and work location; some benefits may not apply to part-time roles or positions outside the U.S
