Job description

Assistant Kitchen Manager & Youth Culinary Instructor

MJCCA: 5342 Tilly Mill Road, Atlanta, Ga 30338

(Dunwoody- not far from Chamblee-Dunwoody exit off 285 / 8mi from Buford Farmers Mkt)


Position Summary:

This position is a dual role that will culminate in a 40-hour work week.

As the Kitchen Assistant the primary responsibility will be to work shifts in the kitchen that directly affect our onsite dining establishment, Cadranel’s Corner. Role will include but not limited to food prep, execution of dishes, general maintaining the kitchen (ie. cleaning, washing dishes, etc), maintaining/signing off on daily SOPS, and executing closing procedures.

Additional responsibility within this role will include running the youth classes with pre-school through elementary-aged children. Classes can span 3-4 days per week depending upon class enrollments. Youth classes require a minimum of 10 hours per week (and maximum of 15 hours per week if warranted) hands-on instruction with youth.

90-day new hire proficiency period; after evaluation will transition into full time, benefited

Pay determined by experience; pay begins at $16.25 per hour

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


· Maintain all levels of kitchen cleanliness and sanitation practices

· Learn and mimic menu items as stated by standardized recipes set forth

· Execute the culinary classes as designed to maintain quality of program

· Transport children from Weinstein school to and from kitchen for classes



Education/Experience:


· Has worked with children of all ages

· Has basic kitchen knowledge and safety sanitation knowledge

· ServSafe certified; preferred but not required (if not certified, JCC will schedule a training/exam)

· CPR certified; preferred but not required (if not certified, the JCC will schedule a training/exam)



Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:


· Ability to work with children of all ages; requires extreme patience

· Show initiative

· Friendly, engaging demeanor with guests

· Needs reliable transportation to and from work

· Must be able to be mobile and lift up to 50 pounds

· Must be a team player

· Must be able to work flexible hours in an environment with constant mobility.

· Must be able to pass a criminal background check

Staff has access to facility amenities: indoor/outdoor aquatics centers, fitness centers (gym, yoga studios, pilates studio, weight training rooms), various events on site (theatre events, cultural events, etc)
