Job description

Up to $40.00 per hour based on experience + 10% 2nd Shift Premium
Total earning potential up to $44.00 per hour

UPI Manufacturing is looking for an experienced Robotic Welding Technician / Programmer to take ownership of our robotic welding operation on 2nd Shift. This is a hands-on position for someone who understands robotic welding and can do more than load a fixture and press Cycle Start. You'll spend most of your shift at the robot—setting up jobs, running production, troubleshooting problems, making program adjustments, and keeping the cell producing quality parts.

If you enjoy robotics, welding, programming, troubleshooting, and improving production, this is an opportunity to work with some impressive equipment.

Our Robotic Welding Equipment

Our primary robotic welding cell is a large, dual-sided Yaskawa Motoman system equipped with two AR3120 six-axis welding robots. These long-reach robots provide more than 10 feet of horizontal reach and allow different work to be run or set up on each side of the cell.

You'll also work with our newer Yaskawa Motoman HC20DTP collaborative robotic welding cell, giving you hands-on experience with both traditional industrial robots and newer collaborative robot technology.

What You'll Do

  • Operate and maintain our Yaskawa Motoman robotic welding cells to meet production and quality requirements.
  • Set up jobs, fixtures, parts, and robotic welding programs.
  • Load and unload parts and fixtures.
  • Select, run, modify, and troubleshoot robotic welding programs.
  • Adjust robot positions and weld paths as needed.
  • Adjust welding parameters to maintain weld quality.
  • Perform job changeovers and verify setups.
  • Diagnose robot faults, weld issues, positioning problems, and other production interruptions.
  • Inspect welds and finished parts for quality.
  • Work with Production, Quality, Engineering, and Welding personnel to solve problems.
  • Identify opportunities to improve cycle time, weld consistency, uptime, and cell performance.
  • Perform routine cleaning and basic preventive maintenance.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone with real-world robotic welding experience and hands-on programming ability.

Required/Preferred Skills:

  • Experience operating industrial robotic welding equipment.
  • Experience programming, modifying, or troubleshooting robotic programs.
  • Yaskawa Motoman experience strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of MIG/GMAW weldin
  • Understanding of welding parameters and their effect on weld quality
  • Ability to identify common welding defects and make appropriate corrections.
  • Ability to read blueprints and weld symbols.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
  • Willingness to take ownership of keeping the robotic cells running.

Experience creating complete robotic welding programs from scratch is a major plus. We will also consider candidates with strong robotic welding operating experience who can modify programs, touch up points, troubleshoot problems, and are capable of developing their programming skills further.

This Is Not Just a Robot Operator Position

We're looking for someone who wants to understand and control the process, not simply load parts and push a button. When a weld isn't right, a program needs adjustment, or the cell stops, you'll be expected to investigate the problem, make the corrections you're capable of making, and get production moving again.

  • You'll have the opportunity to work every day with:
  • Two Yaskawa Motoman AR3120 six-axis welding robots.
  • A large dual-sided robotic welding cell.
  • Yaskawa Motoman HC20DTP collaborative robot.
  • MIG/GMAW welding processes.
  • Robotic programming and troubleshooting.
  • Large-part welding applications.

Schedule

  • 2nd Shift: 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM
  • Full-time
  • 8-hour shift
  • Overtime available
