POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Warehouse Associate/Yard Mule Driver is responsible for tracking shipments, receiving, processing, storing, and distributing materials, equipment, and products in a warehouse setting. Additionally, they will operate a yard mule and a 48-ft flatbed to pick up, transport, and deliver materials within TAS warehouse facilities.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Warehouse Responsibilities:

  • Track shipments and ensure timely receipt and processing of materials.
  • Receive, inspect, and accurately document incoming materials, equipment, and products.
  • Operate forklifts to load and unload trucks, move materials within the warehouse, and stock shelves.
  • Perform routine cycle counting of inventory and maintain accurate records in ERP systems.
  • Ensure warehouse organization, cleanliness, and safety standards are maintained.
  • Assist with shipping, including packaging, labeling, and preparing orders for delivery.

Driver Responsibilities:

  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safe operation of the yard mule and 48-ft trailer.
  • Load and unload materials using forklifts or other equipment according to TAS best practices.
  • Transport materials between warehouse facilities and vendor sites in the greater Houston area.
  • Manage basic automotive and equipment repairs and maintain cleanliness of the yard mule and flatbed.
  • Verify items being picked up or delivered and maintain accurate delivery documentation.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations while driving in various traffic and weather conditions.

JOB SKILLS:

  • Strong organizational skills for managing warehouse operations and transportation tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to safely operate forklifts, yard mules, and 48-ft flatbeds in a fast-paced environment.

EDUCATION & TRAINING:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • 5+ years of related factory experience and/or training.
  • 5+ years of ERP experience and inventory control.
  • 5+ years of forklift experience (15,000lbs or more).
  • 5+ years of Microsoft Office Suite experience, including Outlook.
  • Must be 25+ years of age.
  • Previous experience working in an industrial manufacturing setting.
  • Must have prior experience safely operating a yard truck (mule) to move 53' dry vans as well as 48' and 53' flatbeds within a warehouse yard or distribution environment.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs, walk/stand in steel-toed boots for extended periods, and perform physical tasks as required.
  • Fluent in English (verbal and written).

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and additional ERP systems.
  • Valid Class A Driver's License with a clean driving record.
  • 3+ years of experience in a CDL Class A driving position and securing cargo on trailers.
  • Knowledge of transportation logistics and securing cargo on open/flatbed trailers.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Work performed 50% in a shop environment and 50% driving a yard mule.
  • Exposed to any number of elements but with none present to the extent of being disagreeable.
  • Requires normal vision and absence of color blindness.
  • Physical effort equals frequent moving of up to 50lbs materials.
  • Regularly required to sit or stand, bend and reach.
  • The use of Safety Glasses is required.
  • The use of earplugs is recommended.
  • Ability to stand up to 10 hours a day (with 30-minute lunch in between) and up to 6 days a week.
  • Ability to work in a non-air-conditioned environment.
  • Steel-toe boots required in Manufacturing Facility
  • Work in a warehouse environment with inside environmental conditions and exposure to various weather conditions while driving.
