Position Overview
Do you thrive in challenging environments, perform your best under pressure, and have a passion for helping others? As a Ski Patroller at Mt. Hood Meadows, you'll play a critical role in creating a safe, enjoyable mountain experience for thousands of guests each season. From avalanche mitigation and hazard assessment to emergency medical response and technical rescue, Ski Patrollers are trusted professionals who combine expert skiing ability, sound judgment, and exceptional teamwork to keep the mountain operating safely.
No two days are the same. You'll work in a dynamic alpine environment, responding to emergencies, educating guests, evaluating terrain and snow conditions, and supporting daily mountain operations in all types of weather. Every decision you make contributes to the safety of our guests, employees, and mountain community.
This role is ideal for experienced skiers who are passionate about outdoor emergency response, thrive in physically demanding conditions, and are committed to continuous learning, teamwork, and service. This is a full-time, seasonal position
Qualifications
  • Expert skier in all terrain and in all snow conditions. Must pass Mt Hood Meadows Ski Patrol ski test. Snowboarders not accepted
  • Able to work in adverse weather conditions for extended periods of time
  • Current CPR certification required
  • Minimum of Outdoor Emergency Care, Wilderness First Responder EMT required
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Positive mental attitude, strong work ethic, focused attention to detail, and ability to work well as a team member in all conditions
  • Be fluent in all aspects of the English language (spoken and written), have excellent guest service skills, be able to work in inclement weather in a high-alpine environment for extended periods, and have the ability to operate all ski patrol-related equipment
  • Have sight, speech, and hearing abilities sufficient to learn skills, follow, and provide directions
  • Available to work nights holidays and weekends
  • Safely move objects up to approximately 70pounds about the workplace.

  • EMS experience
  • Outdoor work & guest service experience
  • Regulation enforcement experience
  • Avalanche safety training & terrain experience
  • Experience as a safety educator
  • Rope Access training & experience

Compensation:
  • Wage: $18.00 - $38.00 per hour
