Position Summary

The Worship & Student Ministry Director at Fellowship Wesleyan Church is responsible for leading a worship arts ministry that shepherds people into God's presence through music and technology. The Worship & Student Ministry Director will be a Holy Spirit-filled leader who plans worship experiences with excellence yet is sensitive to what the Holy Spirit is doing and willing to respond accordingly.

This position is also responsible for creating environments that nurture the spiritual growth of 6th-12th graders and empower leaders to use their gifts in pastoring and discipling students. This position will create a Student Ministry with a balance of worship, community, and mission that generates students who are disciple-making disciples and everyday missionaries.

This individual will provide leadership and oversight for all aspects of Worship and Student Ministry in alignment with the mission, vision, values, and theology of Fellowship Wesleyan Church and The Wesleyan Church.

Spiritual Leadership

  • Provide visionary leadership for both Worship and Student Ministries.
  • Work with church leadership to ensure both ministries align with the overall mission and vision of Fellowship Wesleyan Church.
  • Provide biblical teaching consistent with the Word of God.
  • Develop leaders, volunteers, and students who are growing in spiritual maturity and actively engaged in God's mission.
  • Create a discipleship pathway that balances worship, community, and mission and leads students toward lifelong faith and Kingdom impact.

Worship Leadership

  • Plan, coordinate, and lead weekly Sunday worship services in collaboration with the Senior Pastor that are authentic, engaging, and centered on the presence of God.
  • Lead with sensitivity to the Holy Spirit—willing to extend a moment, shift direction, lead spontaneous worship, or pause for prayer ministry as the Lord leads.
  • Thoughtfully introduce new songs that reflect both contemporary and traditional expressions of worship.
  • Design and lead worship for special services and church-wide gatherings, including Communion services, Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, Easter, Christmas, funerals, and other ministry events.
  • Oversee the technical and creative aspects of worship services, including audio, lighting, livestreaming, presentation software, and stage environments.

Student Ministry Leadership

  • Plan and oversee the rhythms of Student Ministry, including weekly gatherings, retreats, camps, conferences, mission trips, outreach opportunities, and special events.
  • Create a ministry culture that balances worship, community, and mission.
  • Develop age-appropriate resources and experiences that encourage spiritual growth and active participation in God's mission.
  • Develop student leaders and empower them to disciple and influence their peers.
  • Foster meaningful relationships with students through consistent presence, mentorship, and pastoral care.
  • Create environments where students can encounter Jesus, grow in faith, and build authentic relationships with one another.
  • Maintain regular communication with students and parents, utilizing digital communication tools and social media to engage students and keep families informed.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with parents, encouraging and equipping them in the spiritual formation of their children.

Volunteer & Team Development

  • Recruit, train, schedule, and support volunteers across both Worship and Student Ministries, including musicians, vocalists, production volunteers, and creative contributors.
  • Create ministry teams marked by prayer, accountability, encouragement, spiritual growth, and excellence.
  • Identify and develop emerging leaders.
  • Mentor volunteers not only in ministry skills but also in their spiritual lives and discipleship.

Administrative

  • Participate in annual budgeting and ministry planning processes.
  • Develop annual ministry goals and strategies.
  • Manage ministry calendars, schedules, records, and required licenses for both Worship and Student Ministries.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings and church leadership gatherings.
  • Collaborate with other ministries and local churches for Kingdom-focused partnerships and ministry opportunities.
  • Be fully engaged in the mission, vision, and covenant of Fellowship Wesleyan Church.
  • Assist with church-wide ministry responsibilities and perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor.

Qualifications

  • A growing, authentic relationship with Jesus Christ and a heart that is sensitive to the Holy Spirit.
  • Alignment with the beliefs, values, and theology of The Wesleyan Church.
  • Demonstrated experience leading worship and working with students/youth in ministry.
  • Ability to lead congregational worship and develop worship teams.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to recruit, equip, and empower volunteers.
  • A pastoral heart that prioritizes people and the presence of God over programs and production.
  • Working knowledge of worship technology, audio systems, presentation software, livestreaming, and production environments.
  • Creativity, flexibility, and a passion for helping people take next steps in following Jesus.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, retreats, camps, and special ministry events as required.
  • Training, education, or experience in ministry, worship, theology, Christian education, music, production, or a related field preferred.
