Job Summary:

The Lodge at Big Springs is a cornerstone of the Northstar experience — a high-energy, high-volume mountain dining destination where great food, genuine hospitality, and unforgettable views come together. We’re looking for an experienced food and beverage leader to take the helm, build an exceptional team, and create the kind of guest experience people remember long after they have left the mountain.

This is more than a management role. It is a chance to shape a culture, develop people, and lead meaningful work in one of the most dynamic settings in the industry. As General Manager, you will lead a team of 50+ employees with real autonomy, partner closely with resort leadership, and make a visible impact on both the employee and guest experience. This full-time, year-round opportunity offers the chance to build something lasting — a team, a culture, and a standard of excellence that reflects your leadership.

Job Specifications:

  • Starting Wage: $72,000.00 - $76,000.00 + annual bonus
  • Employment Type: Year Round
  • Shift Type: Full Time hours available
  • Minimum Age: At least 18 years of age
  • Housing Availability: No

Job Responsibilities:

You’ll oversee all aspects of daily operations at the Lodge at Big Springs — from service quality and food safety to labor planning, financial performance, and team development. With 50+ employees depending on your leadership, you will set the tone for how the team works together and how guests feel when they walk through the door.

  • Outlet: Lodge at Big Springs, Northstar
  • Full-time, year-round leadership role
  • The budgeted pay range starts competitively, with actual compensation determined based on experience.
  • Build and lead a diverse, high-performing team of 50+ through hiring, onboarding, scheduling, coaching, and performance development.
  • Create a workplace culture grounded in accountability, inclusion, service, and continuous improvement.
  • Deliver a consistently excellent guest experience in a fast-paced mountain resort environment.
  • Own operational performance across service, food quality, sanitation, safety, inventory, labor, payroll, tip disbursements, and revenue reporting.
  • Plan and manage labor in alignment with business levels, ensuring smart cost management and operational readiness throughout the season.
  • Champion safety for employees and guests through strong practices, safety meetings, and a clean, well-maintained operation.
  • Keep facilities and equipment in excellent condition through regular inspection, preventative maintenance, and timely follow-up.
  • Partner with resort and food and beverage leadership to share insights, strengthen operations, and pursue continuous improvement.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies, food safety standards, sanitation requirements, OSHA expectations, and applicable regulations.

Job Requirements:

  • 5+ years of restaurant or hospitality management experience
  • A genuine passion for developing people and building teams where everyone can do their best work
  • Experience managing high-volume operations with accountability for service standards, labor, and financial outcomes
  • Strong communication skills — clear, direct, and respectful with both your team and your guests
  • The ability to stay grounded under pressure and work through challenges with professionalism and sound judgment
  • Comfort with Microsoft Office and operational reporting
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays during peak season
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • RBS alcohol certification and Food Safe Manager certification, both provided by the company
  • Ability to lift and carry 40+ lbs. as needed for the role

We welcome applications from candidates whose path does not check every box. If your leadership experience is strong and you are passionate about this kind of work, we would love to hear from you.

Preferred:

  • Efficient in snow management and control.
  • Background in high-volume food and beverage or mountain/resort environments
  • A collaborative, forward-thinking approach — someone who sees change as opportunity
  • Strong follow-through on administrative responsibilities and senior leadership requests
  • Experience navigating complex team or guest situations with care and composure

Northstar is committed to building a workforce that reflects the diversity of the communities and guests we serve. We strongly encourage applications from candidates of all backgrounds, identities, and experiences.

The expected pay range is $72,000.00 - $76,000.00 + annual bonus. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.

In completing this application, and when submitting related documentation, applicants may redact information that identifies their age, date of birth, and/or dates of attendance at or graduation from an educational institution.

We follow all federal, state, and local laws including restrictions on child/minor labor. Minors hired into this position will not be asked or permitted to engage in any activities restricted to adult workers.
