Job Title: Logistics Coordinator
Reports to: Logistics Manager, Katheryn Morgan
Employment Type: Full-time, Non-exempt
Duties/ Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and manage daily delivery routes for an assigned Owner Operator team, ensuring optimal use of available hours and equipment.
- Strategize and apply best practices for daily routing based on driver preferences, availability, operational priorities, and business needs.
- Work directly with customers to schedule appointments, provide delivery updates, and handle all customer requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Actively communicate with Owner Operators throughout the day to confirm schedules, adjust routes, and ensure on-time performance.
- Provide excellent customer service at all times to both internal and external customers.
- Effectively present and assign loads to drivers in a way that balances company needs with driver preferences.
- Build strong working relationships with all Owner Operators to encourage engagement, trust, and consistent acceptance of assigned loads.
- Quickly resolve load-related issues as they arise (schedule changes, equipment problems, driver availability, etc.).
- Reassign and adjust routing in real time when loads fall off, coverage gaps arise, operational demands shift, etc. collaborating continuously with other Logistics Coordinators to ensure all freight is covered.
- Monitor driver progress in real time and proactively address potential delays or service issues.
- Maintain a solid understanding of DOT Hours of Service (HOS) and compliance requirements to ensure Owner Operators are qualified and available for dispatch.
- Plan and implement process improvements to enhance routing efficiency and equipment utilization.
- Maintain consistent and reliable availability during all regular business hours, as this is an essential function of the role.
- Participate in rotational on-call assignments for after-hours and weekend coverage.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/ Abilities:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy.
- Excellent organizational/multitasking skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Basic understanding of geographical area to facility efficient routing.
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in any field or actively enrolled in an undergraduate program required.
- 1+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, or customer service preferred.
- Basic understanding of Port Pro TMS preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
- Ability to work in a high-energy environment with frequent interruptions.
